Transition Highlights For August
WHAT'S NEW
The SCTN will be hosting our second year of the Regional Student Advisory Committees (RSAC). The RSAC supports transition in Texasby seeking feedback from high school students with disabilities about ways to improve transition planning. To do this, we need your help! We are asking Transition & Employment Designees, teachers, or administrators from public schools to serve as “educator sponsors” in order to help your students share their thoughts about specific topics, such as student-led IEPs, revising the Texas Transition & Employment Guide, and disability disclosure.
Role of Educator Sponsors
Each Educator Sponsor will:
Select up to 10 students with established self-advocacy skills
Schedule and host 4 online meetings (2 per semester), using agenda and materials developed by the SCTN
Submit feedback and meeting results through an online portal
If you are interested in applying to become an Educator Sponsor, please complete an application no later than Friday, September 4 . Applicants will be notified of selection by September 11.
Did you know that each local education agency (LEA) must now keep their Transition and Employment Designee (TED) information updated on TEA's AskTED page?
