Here’s your Transition Tuesday update for the week of February 15
This week’s hooray: Let there be lights!
Renovations are ongoing at 2404 San Mateo Place and last week was electrifying. Overhead light fixtures have now been installed in the sanctuary and wiring has been pulled for the sound system. Much of the painting is done and stage construction is complete.
We also wrapped up the moving sale, with another well-attended event on Saturday. Things are feeling lighter and lighter at the Center as the unsold items are being donated or sent out for consignment. Many thanks to all the volunteers, including the kids from 505, Sue Klump, Sherry Noone, Brian Kurtz, Carol March, Ron Smick, Crystal Kleinhenz and especially to Gracie Woods, who was the engine that drove it all.
That energy radiated out into the community in some amazing ways and we are so grateful! We’ve had generous donations of time from congregants and friends of congregants who have shown up to help at 2404 San Mateo Place. As always, we’re grateful for monetary gifts as well; over the last couple of weeks, we’ve received some amazing financial support for our move from outside the RGCSL congregation. We want to share some of their encouraging words with you.
A donor who attends Unity Albuquerque, said, “I see you. I see your community! I'm grateful for the inclusiveness that is radiating in this time of your transition to a new space, and new beginnings. I will soon join you for Service or at Solid Grounds when your new space is opened so that I can feel this in person.”
Rev. Gordon and the congregation of Unity Spiritual Center said, “We are designating this tithe to you and your community in honor of your service and bless you and your work as you move into your new spiritual home. We send blessings of Love, Light and Abundance and hold a vision of continued growth, joy and deep impact for all that is unfolding there. We look forward to future collaborations between our communities and the good we can bring forth together.”
If you know someone, especially someone with construction skills, who may be willing to donate time during the renovations, please refer them to Carol March: 505) 235-9753 or cmarch555@msn.com.
Coming Up: We think we can, we think we can…
Right now, we’re in the “little engine that could” phase of the transition. We’re pushing hard, and we’re not at the top of the hill yet, but we can see it from here!
As Rev. Gil pointed out on Sunday, the move is a moving target, and as we get closer we are adjusting our sites. Sunday, February 22, originally our planned moving day, will now see a giant packing party. Please wear your work clothes and plan to stay after services if you can help with packing or cleaning. Most of the move will most likely happen on the following Saturday, February 28. We will be sending out extra updates as we nail down the specifics.
Upcoming dates to watch
Sunday, February 22: Last Sunday celebration at Alexander; packing party begins at noon!
Saturday, February 28: Moving Day (to be confirmed).
Sunday, March 1: Sunday services go online as we prepare the new space. (Join us via Streamyard on Facebook or YouTube -- Rev. Kamatara has something special planned!)
Sunday, March 8: First Sunday celebration at San Mateo Place. Please plan to attend on this important day!
