CHAIR'S CORNER

Dear SBC-CDS members,

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to our remarkable show in August. Your dedication made it the biggest event we’ve seen in decades! Hosting the CDS Regional Adult Amateur Competition not only showcased our talents but has also led to an invitation to host it again next year. This achievement truly highlights our chapter's commitment and spirit.

As we reflect on this season, I’d like to congratulate our members who qualified for the 57th CDS State Championship Show, September 26-29, 2024 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center: Chloe Adrian-Giannetto, Julie Corlett, Tim Forster, Bea Freels, Michelle Freels, Avery Klein, Michele Morseth, Katherine Sulzbach, Anne Cole, Bridgett Walker and Susan Walker. Congratulations, your hard work certainly paid off!

Many of our members were present at the Championships to cheer on our competitors and assist with the event. Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered their time.

Looking ahead, we’ll be organizing a tour of the Alamo Pintado Equine Clinic this fall. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn more about this exceptional facility. I'm also happy to let you know that we have confirmed our Year-End Awards Banquet. SAVE THE DATE on Sunday, January 26th from 12pm - 3pm at the Santa Barbara Inn, 12pm-3pm, catered by Convivo Restaurant & Bar.

I hope to see many of you there at both events!

Until then, keep riding!

Warm regards,

SUMMER DRESSAGE IN SANTA BARBARA

Our August 17th & 18th, 2024 Central Coast RAAC Dressage show was the biggest show we've had in years!!!

The energy flowed through our three arenas and two warm-up arenas. We also had the added bonus of a fortified Vendor Village.

We are almost speechless at the amount of support and sponsors we had for this show. Scroll down for updates on our many amazing sponsors!

With 123 competitors, our judges Jeanne McDonald, Debbie Riehl-Rodrigues, and Tegan Kossowicz were very busy observing our horse & rider teams and had the difficult task to score every movement. Needless to say, there was a lot of competition and all the riders and especially our High Point winners should be very proud of their performances.

When you see our High Point winners at the next show or event, take a second to congratulate them. We are proud of >>>> To read the full article and see more photos from the show click on READ MORE or click the button below.

OLYMPIC VIEWING PARTY

The highlight of 2024 for the world of Dressage was the Paris Olympics. There's not a more impressive setting to ride down centerline than having the Palace of Versailles as the backdrop. The U.S.A. was proudly represented by Adrienne Lyle and Helix, Marcus Orlob and Jane, Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper, Endel Ots and Bohemian, and led by Chef d’Equipe Christine Traurig and Team Leader Laura Roberts.

Your chapter put on a viewing party at Porchlight Studios, where the Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle was projected on a gigantic screen. Twenty-six chapter members gathered to watch nearly life-sized horses piaff, passage, and pirouette for the win. Read more about the event and enjoy the photos!

We are so excited to welcome our new members to the Santa Barbara CDS Chapter!! Please give a very warm welcome to these members who have joined us since the last newsletter came out in July: Ella Troyna, Katie Crane, Michele Morseth, Audrey Sanborn, Jane Jones and Lyla Rhodes.

Each quarter, we want to welcome and highlight one of our new members. This time, we are excited to highlight junior rider Ella Troyna, who joined the chapter with mom Kristi Troyna. Learn more about this equestrian!

Ella Troyna really loves her ponies because they have great personalities. She also enjoys the simple things around the horses, like grooming them, taking them for walks, and watching them graze. Ella's horse Chance is now a 20-year-old Palomino quarter pony standing at 13.2 hands tall, which she has owned since Chance was 13. A previous barrel horse, Ella worked very hard turning Chance into a jumper but as he got older, she decided to switch gears and turn to Dressage. They recently competed in their very first First Level, Test 1 together this summer. While they've been working on their dressage Ella has noticed that Chance appears much stronger and is improving in their other disciplines!
