CHAIR'S CORNER

Dear SBC-CDS members,

Hello and Happy Spring to All!

We hope everyone is taking the opportunity to get out with their horses to enjoy our beautiful Santa Barbara County weather. We are so very fortunate in this part of the country.

Our 2025 Spring Dressage show at the Earl Warren Showgrounds was well attended and feedback could not have been more positive. Competitors and spectators commented on how much they love coming to our Santa Barbara shows. First time volunteer coordinator, Sara Beth Cutter, did a stellar job coordinating over 60 volunteer positions which led to this show's success. Hats off to Sara for stepping into a daunting task and pulling it off without a hitch.

The list is very long of amazing volunteers throughout the horse community who enhance this chapter by working these shows. Their enthusiasm is contagious which makes for a fun-filled weekend. We are always looking for volunteers not just at the shows but we also need volunteers to fill other important roles throughout the year.

One of those "throughout-the-year-volunteers" is Nicole Walther, who has been doing a great job interviewing members with the help of board secretary Lisa White, and recruiting guest bloggers for our monthly Transitions Blog. Please contact Sara Cutter (808) 990.6200 or sbcutter@gmail.com if you’d like to get involved with our dynamic and growing chapter or contact Nicole at nicole.silverliningpr@gmail.com if you want to contribute the blog.

We also have activities, virtual shows, clinics and socials you can find listed on our website's events page.

Lastly, be sure to check out our general website at https://www.sbccds.org.

Thank you for being a part of this amazing chapter…..you make it happen!

2025 Spring Dressage Show

The SBC CDS Spring Dressage Show at Earl Warren Showgrounds was the Santa Barbara County Chapter's Level 3 USEF/ USDF CDS show over the May 17 & 18 weekend. The competition once again gathered so many positive comments, it seems the stars are well aligned for the Summer Dressage Show in August.

Click the button below to get the weekend's wrap up and fun photos of show announcer Hunter Schumake, star volunteer Chris Crowe, a Freestyle rocket launch, Cotton Candy machines, canine volunteers, creative stall cards, local art by 6-year old artists, the return of the show dollars, happy volunteers, and many more horse and human competitors. For the list of results, visit FoxVillage HERE.

Member Gathering at the Mill

Chapter members and friends got together for an informal social with food and festivities at The Mill in downtown Santa Barbara on April 30th. It was a great opportunity to catch up on everything dressage, new horses, and life’s ups and downs.

The Mill contains a Production Winery and Tasting Bar, Craft Brewery and Tap Room, and Specialty Restaurant and Event Center. It was a great place for an informal gathering on a Wednesday evening.
