Since the beginning of PP18, we have been touched by the enthusiasm you all have had for these new tiles. We are excited to announce that Zentangle Translucen-Z tiles are now available for purchase!
This semi-transparent tile offers you new opportunities in layering tangles and creating depth and illusion in your tangled artwork. The Zentangle Translucen-Z tile unveils a whole new path of exploring on a surface that allows you to see through to other surfaces and enables light to pass through. We invite the Zentangle community to play with layers, explore working both sides of the tile, and see what happens when tangles are lit from behind.

This surface is also a new opportunity to explore new techniques and tools.
We have had so much fun exploring different pens and inks on these tiles. From our tried-and-true Pigma Microns to 3-dimensional inks, we are sharing some of our favorites with you. Join Molly and Julie as they explore using different pens and pencils on the brand new Zentangle Translucen-Z tiles.
Sakura Pigma Micron Pens
It is no surprise that we love the entire line of Sakura Pigma Micron pens. Available in a variety of nib sizes and colors, the possibilities are endless. Julie especially enjoyed working with the PN (Plastic Nib) on the Translucen-Z tiles. The bold black pigma ink and sturdy plastic nib are a match made in heaven for creating fine detail on these tiles.

Sakura Gelly Roll Pens
In Project Pack No. 18, we introduced the Silver Shadow Gelly Roll pens. A beautiful, shimmery inky pen that produces a different effect depending on which side of the tile you are looking at. .
These pens write in a 0.7mm line of silver or gold metallic ink with a brilliant-colored border. Add a little magic to your writing with this elegant, shimmery gel ink that is perfect for all your Zentangle-Inspired Art. The Sakura Silver Shadow Gelly Roll is available in five different colors now in our shop.
Don't stop with the Silver and Gold Shadow pens, the entire family of Gelly Roll pens were great to work with. The Moonlight Gelly Roll pens come in a variety of different colors and we enjoyed the 08 and 10 sizes best. For some extra sparkle, we suggest the Metallic Gold Gelly Roll pen.

3D Inks
When Molly grabbed a Sakura Soufflé pen out of her bag instead of a Gelly Roll, we were pleasantly surprised with the result. While these pens may look like your typical Gelly Roll, they are a beautiful 3D Ink from Sakura. The ink flowed beautifully on the tiles and dried in a beautiful pastel color. Available in six different colors.
After we explored the Soufflé pens, we grabbed a clear Sakura Glaze pen. Also a 3-Dimensional ink, this pen opens doors to endless possibilities acting as a resist, adding texture or a fun surprise to your tiles. We recommend pairing this with General's Pastel pencils.
Tip: When working with these inks, remember that they require a few minutes of drying time so that they do not smudge or smear. The Souffé pens write in an opaque color but dry in a bright pastel color.
Sakura MicroPerm
Using the same ink as the IDentiPen, the Sakura Microperm flows so nicely on these tiles it is an absolute dream to write with. While the ink may not be as vivid as the Pigma Micron, they offer an entirely different look and feel to your tiles.

General’s Pastel Chalk Pencils
Another tool for Zentangle Project Pack No. 18, the Generals Pastel Chalk pencils are a must-have when working on our Translucen-Z tiles. Smooth as butter and rich in color, we loved shading and blending with these pencils.
Available in a pack of six jewel tones.

You have seen it at events or in our blog, and now, by popular demand, available as a print in our store.
Zentangle artist Molly Hollibaugh spent time living in Mexico during her college years. During this influential time, Molly studied art and immersed herself in the experience and ultimately fell in love with the country, the people and the culture. Her time there inspired her perspectives and her art. In this drawing, Molly tangles a traditional calavera image. This giclée print is signed by the artist and measures 13" x 19".

Zentangle Project Pack No. 19
We know that many of you may still be working on Zentangle Project Pack No. 18, but in effort to cut down on your shipping costs, we are giving you access to Zentangle Project Pack No. 19 materials now.
It has become an annual Zentangle tradition for us to celebrate the holiday season with a video series we call The Twelve Days of Zentangle.
This Project Pack series is unique as we will be working on one singular piece of tangled art over the course of twelve lessons. We will work on a customized surface that will provide structure and a common element to guide us on this adventure together. We will methodically and magically add to the structure as we simultaneously discuss and share our system of collecting, deconstructing, and categorizing tangles.
