Take the Maryland Transportation Trails Survey

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is partnering with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and other state and local agencies to develop a Maryland State Transportation Trails Strategic Plan to increase access to a larger network of trails that benefit all Marylanders. They need the public's help to inform the plan's creation, so take the survey and share your thoughts on how to prioritize trail development across the state (deadline is May 9, 2025). DART plans on more ‘micro routes’ expansions

As reported by Delaware Business Times, "Delaware officials are revamping how the state bus routes are run, discontinuing some routes due to low ridership while relying on the 'microtransit' model to still serve riders in rural areas."

Delaware commuters will lose SEPTA access under proposed cuts

As reported by Delaware Business Times, "As SEPTA plans for deep cuts to its service to address a $213 million budget shortfall, Delaware may be without critical rail service that major cities have relied on to connect companies with workers based in Philadelphia or New Jersey. SEPTA has proposed cutting half of its service by January 2026, including the Wilmington/Newark line, to address a massive structural budget deficit."

Delaware reports steady progress in air quality despite wildfire setbacks

As reported by DelawareLive, "Delaware continues to make gains in improving air quality, according to the 2023 Annual Air Quality Report released by the state’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). The report, based on data from the DNREC Division of Air Quality’s statewide monitoring network, shows most pollutants remained below federal limits — though ozone and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) remain persistent concerns."

Delawareans will now be able to get regular updates on drought conditions in the state online

As reported by Delaware Public Media, "The Delaware Climate Office launches a new website to help Delawareans stay informed about the state’s water supply during droughts. The state has experienced drought conditions since late October, and this website will be a central location to manage drought information for the public."

In 2024, More Electricity Than Ever Came From Renewable Sources

As reported by Governing, "Renewable electricity generation reached a new peak in 2024, with wind and solar overtaking coal for the first time. In addition, the year-on-year increase in solar generation was greater than for gas generation."
