As reported by Chester County Press, "Newark has earned first a bronze and then a silver in bike friendliness from the League of American Bicyclists, and advocates are going for the gold. 

The advocacy is championed by BikeNewark. The nonprofit partners with the city, UD, the Delaware Department of Transportation, the Wilmington Area Planning Council, the Newark Bike Project (a community repair shop), Delaware Greenways and Bike Delaware."

As reported by Delaware Online, "In Delaware, the Department of Transportation roundabout location map shows there are 35 roundabouts in use. If proposals by transportation officials are adopted there will be more. Designed for simplicity and efficiency, roundabouts can still confuse drivers unfamiliar with their navigation. DelDOT provides resources about roundabouts including instructional videos available on YouTube explaining how trucks, cars, buses and other vehicles should negotiate travel on a roundabout."

As reported by Delaware Public Media, "Newark is awarded a federal grant to help expand electric vehicle and e-bike charging infrastructure around the city. The $590,949 grant comes from the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure program, and will fund the installation of 12 e-bike charging stations – Newark currently has none."

To ensure that the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is representative of community needs and perspectives, DVRPC is conducing several paid focus groups for resident to learn about the CCAP and share their feedback on the draft priorities.

DVRPC is actively recruiting people from New Castle County and Cecil County who live in historically marginalized and underserved communities to share their thoughts on how to reduce harmful effects of climate change within their communities. These focus groups will help inform the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) for the region. Selected participants will receive a stipend of $125 based on their attendance at an assigned focus group.
