DelDOT receives portion of $249 million grant for heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle infrastructure on I-95 corridor | |
As reported by Delaware Public Media, "Delaware’s Department of Transportation receives part of a $249 million grant to install medium and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure on I-95. Delaware will manage almost $14 million of the total grant award – the entirety awarded to the Clean Corridor Coalition, led by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection." | |

Construction begins on new park at old Rodney Reservoir site | |
As reported by Delaware Public Media, "Demolition at the former Rodney Street Reservoir in Wilmington is complete, green lighting a park project slated for completion next spring. More than 20 years after the reservoir closed to the public, construction on the new community park is underway." | |

Micromobility ridership up 16% in US cities in 2023 | |
As reported by SMARTCITIESDIVE, "The total number of shared bicycle and scooter rides in the U.S. in 2023 rose 16% over the previous year to 133 million, according to a Monday report by the National Association of City Transportation Officials. The all-time high came in 2019 at 136 million shared micromobility rides." | |

U.S. presses the ‘reset button' on technology that lets cars talk to each other | |
As reported by NPR, "Safety advocates have been touting the potential of technology that allows vehicles to communicate wirelessly for years. So far, the rollout has been slow and uneven. Now the U.S. Department of Transportation is releasing a roadmap it hopes will speed up deployment of that technology — and save thousands of lives in the process." | |

Leveraging active transportation to meet state carbon reduction and climate goals | |
As reported by Rails to Trails Conservancy, "When the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed, new programs were introduced to support states in their efforts to keep people safe on our roadways and to reduce emissions...Now, we’re beginning to see the impact of another of these programs, the Carbon Reduction Program, which provides $6.4 billion in formula funds over five years and mandates that states develop carbon reduction strategies designed to reduce transportation emissions from on-road highway sources." | |
