Rt9Route 9 Corridor Master Plan - Public Visioning Workshop
WILMAPCO has been working on a Master Plan for the Route 9 corridor near Wilmington. The plan aims to:
  • Improve access to jobs, healthy foods, recreation, community services, and affordable housing
  • Promote mixed-use and mixed-income redevelopment
  • Mitigate environmental and health concerns
  • Examine land uses and recommend zoning adjustments
  • Recommend roadway improvements that promote the use of alternative transportation and manage truck traffic
A public visioning workshop is set for Tuesday, May 24 at 6:15 p.m., at the Rose Hill Community Center.

BikeMonthMay is Bike Month
To celebrate National Bike to Work Week on May 16-20, and Bike to Work Day on May 20 many local events are planned.  Events include the Cities of Wilmington and Newark Bike to Work Day, Bike to School events at Claymont, Downes and Stubbs Elementary Schools, Wilmington Grand Prix and art loop, and much more.  Get out and ride!  Visit our website for Bike Month event details.

AltFeulFueling the Future:
Clean Transportation for a Greener Delaware 
The Fueling the Future event is for anyone interested in saving money and reducing transportation's environmental impact, especially Delaware fleet managers, businesses, municipalities, school districts, emergency responders, and other groups. Expert panels will discuss the benefits, common misconceptions, and success stories of alternative fuels like propane, natural gas, and electricity that improve and progress the transportation sector by providing lower-emissions and cost-saving alternatives to traditional gas and diesel vehicles.  The event will take place on Tuesday, May 24, from 9 to 3:30 p.m., at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.

ClimateDelaware Climate Projections Portal 
The Delaware Climate Projections Portal is a web-based data library that allows users to view and download climate change projection data developed for the state of Delaware. Through the portal, users can access data visualization, data downloads, and general information gathered from climate model runs conducted for the Delaware Climate Change Impact Assessment. The portal hosts data for 55 climate indicators for temperature, precipitation, growing season, dry days, heat indices, and energy-related indicators, collected from the year 1950 and projected up to 2100.

According to DART's Moving Forward Newsletter, "DART has a great new way for you to receive notifications on service status, news and other information. If you previously received information through DART's Rider Alerts or Rider emails, you'll need to resubscribe using the new notification service."

AirQualityMillions of Americans Breathing Unhealthy, Polluted Air 
More than half of Americans are at risk from health effects of unhealthy air. Released this week, American Lung Association's 17th annual "State of the Air" report
shows continued improvement in air quality, but 52.1 percent of the people in the U.S. live in counties that have unhealthy levels of either ozone or particle pollution.
