Rt9Route 9 Corridor Master Plan - Public Visioning Workshop
WILMAPCO has been working on a Master Plan for the Route 9 corridor near Wilmington.  The plan aims to:
  • Improve access to jobs, healthy foods, recreation, community services, and affordable housing
  • Promote mixed-use and mixed-income redevelopment
  • Mitigate environmental and health concerns
  • Examine land uses and recommend zoning adjustments
  • Recommend roadway improvements that promote the use of alternative transportation and manage truck traffic

SmartCycleSmart Cycling Course - Building your confidence to ride
Join League of American Bicyclists (LAB) instructors on Saturday, April 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at WILMAPCO, 850 Library Ave., Newark, DE 19711 for training to cycle safely and confidently. Participants will receive the LAB Traffic Skills 101 booklet, lunch, and classroom and road instruction. The cost is $30.00 for WCBC Members and $50.00 for non-members (which includes individual membership).  Please register by April 9. DARTDART Public Hearings - Statewide Bus Service Change
Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) will conduct a Public Hearing Workshop on April 26 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at WILMAPCO to obtain comments on proposed changes to DART Statewide Fixed Route Bus Services to become effective Sunday, June 26, 2016.
 
Beginning the week of April 11, a summary of proposed changes and the service proposals will be available for public review at the Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown Libraries, WILMAPCO, at the reception desks of DART Administrative Offices, and online at www.DartFirstState.com.  
 
Comments can be emailed through DART's website at www.DartFirstState.com/publichearing. All written and e-mailed comments must be received by April 29, 2016. 
 
OnlineDelDOT Announces New Online Offerings
According to a Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) release, "DelDOT has announced the DelDOT GATEWAY. The GATEWAY provides maps of transit routes, pavement projects, trails and pathways, traffic counts, and more. The GATEWAY is available at: http://deldot.gov/information/community_programs_and_services/gate.

The GATEWAY will help both the general public and DelDOT internal staff be more informed and efficient. Much like the current DelDOT App that provides the public with real time information concerning the performance and operation of the transportation system, the GATEWAY will allow one-stop access to more static data sets.

Additionally, users may now order and pay for maps online, as well as download technical manuals for free. MTAMTA Launched Radio Station in Baltimore   
According to the Baltimore Sun, "The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) launched a radio station in Baltimore. 'The Maryland Transportation Channel' on WTTZ-93.5 FM features news from the MTA, Maryland Aviation Administration, Maryland Transportation Authority, State Highway Administration, Maryland Port Administration, and Motor Vehicle Administration news."

RodneySquarePlans Unveiled for the Restoration of Historic Rodney Square
According to a Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) release, "Historic Rodney Square in downtown Wilmington will be refreshed and revived starting this spring under a new plan. A group of public/private partners have been working on a comprehensive plan for the restoration of Rodney Square that includes new and relocated bus shelters, an information/news kiosk, increased lighting and security, landscaping, and more." AuburnValleyTrailDelDOT Public Workshop - Auburn Valley Trail Facility and Master Plan Implementation
According to a DelDOT release, "DelDOT invites the public to attend a public workshop/open house to receive information about a conceptual design in constructing a multi-use paved path that will be situated along Yorklyn Road. The anticipated project limits will begin at the NVF redevelopment site and end approximately at Yorkridge Trail and Spring House Lane driveway connections. Future phases will extend the multi-use path further west along Yorklyn Road. Rt301DelDOT Public Workshop - U.S. Route 301  Construction Information Meetings
DelDOT has announced Construction Information Meetings related to construction of the new U.S. Route 301 Mainline from the Delaware/Maryland border to SR 1 south of the C&D Canal. The Construction Informational Meetings will be held bi-monthly and are intended to provide regular updates to residents and interested stakeholders in the Middletown area. The public can sign up for email alerts to be notified of these meetings and other project updates on the U.S. Route 301 website. ExpressTrainDTC/SEPTA Add Express Service on Two PM Rush Hour Trains From Delaware to Center City Philadelphia
According to a DTC release, "Beginning Monday, April 11, Pennsylvania commuters working in Delaware can get home a little faster on the SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Line thanks to the continued partnership between Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) and SEPTA. Two late afternoon/early evening trains will provide express service between the four train stations in Delaware to Center City Philadelphia.
 
The express trains from Wilmington include #2760 departing at 5:15 p.m. and #9294 departing at 6:15 p.m. Commuters riding either train between Wilmington and 30th Street Station will shave off 9 to 13 minutes.
