Celebrating Mobility Week

The Palm Beach TPA celebrated Mobility Week with a Governing Board proclamation on October 31 to emphasize the importance of sustainable transportation options. TPA staff also participated in the Ride, Roll, Stroll Challenge, earning second place among small organizations for logging the most alternative transportation options to driving. TPA Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program


The TPA hosted its annual Funding Program Workshop focusing on the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program, which provides funding for non-motorized infrastructure projects. In partnership with FDOT, this program allocates approximately $5.1M annually to eligible entities. The TA Program application window is now open through February 14, 2025. Miami Intermodal Center Site Visit

TPA staff recently visited the Miami Intermodal Center to explore their multimodal development facility and gather insights for the future of Palm Beach County. Thank you to the Governing Board Members who attended and to the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and Tri-Rail for hosting and sharing valuable knowledge!

Belle Glade Walk Audit Update

The Palm Beach TPA and the City of Belle Glade partnered to complete a Road Safety Audit on Historic Avenue A this week. City staff, led by Mayor Wilson, walked Belle Glade's Main Street and observed sidewalks, roadways, lighting, and drainage conditions for improvement. The street is lined with several local businesses, including restaurants, shops, and offices, and the city aims to help revitalize this area to create a more attractive business environment and a safer place to walk, bicycle, and take transit. World Day of Remembrance

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims will take place on November 17 to honor those who have lost their lives or been affected by roadway crashes. Communities around the world will gather to advocate for measures such as redesigning dangerous roads, reducing speed limits, and improving vehicle design. The day will also urge governments and safety organizations to take immediate action to address the global public health crisis of road-related deaths and injuries.

2025 Safe Streets Summit

Nominations for the Safe Streets Awards are now open! Submissions for Complete Streets Champion, Complete Streets Community and People's Choice Award for Best Complete Streets Project will be accepted now through December 18. Draft 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan

The Draft 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is now available for public review. This 25-year vision for Palm Beach County's transportation future addresses where people will live and work, evaluating the current transportation network, and identifying projects to meet future needs. The Palm Beach TPA is excited to announce its Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Business designation! The Bicycle Friendly America (BFA) program provides communities, businesses, and universities with assistance in building more bicycle-friendly places. The BFA program deadline for communities is June 2025.

Funding & Grant Opportunities

Shared Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail Program is for the development of a statewide system of interconnected high-priority, paved, non-motorized multi-use trail / two-directional Shared Use Path (SUP) within the SUN Trail network for bicyclists and pedestrians, physically separated from vehicular traffic. Applications are now open through December 19.

Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program aims to strengthen our roads and public transportation systems by providing funding to enhance their resilience against natural disasters and climate change. Over five years, it will allocate $1.4 billion for projects that improve the safety and durability of public transit systems. Applications are now open through February 24, 2025.

U.S. DOT’s Equity website provides plans and resources for delivering a more equitable transportation system.


Safe Mobility Coalition Resources: Whether you are an older adult, family member caregiver, aging service provider, or safety advocate, you will find helpful educational materials and information to help improve the safety, access, and mobility of Florida's aging road users.


Electric Bicycle (E-Bike) Resources: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is advancing research on e-bikes to better understand trends and impacts, and how jurisdictions around the country are managing them.


E-Scooter Safety Toolbox: A resource guide, informed by and developed as part of a Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Project, that offers concise, evidence-based recommendations to help state and local agencies deliver e-scooter safety programs.


Target Zero Resources: Target Zero was established in the Strategic Highway Safety Plan to provide a framework for how Florida’s communities work to achieve the national vision of zero fatalities and serious injuries.
