Draft Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) FY 24-28 Public Comment Period Open

As one of the TPA’s most important documents, the TIP identifies projects for maintaining and improving the transportation system funded by federal, state and local sources to assist local governments with their transportation planning efforts. The Draft Fiscal Year 2024-2028 TIP is open for public review. The document will be updated periodically until final adoption at the June 15, 2023 Governing Board meeting.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program


The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established a SS4A discretionary grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years. The SS4A FY 2023 grant application window is now open through July 10, 2023 to fund regional, local and tribal initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries.

Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program


The vision of the PROTECT Discretionary Grant Program is to fund projects that address the climate crisis by improving the resilience of the surface transportation system, including highways, public transportation, ports, and intercity passenger rail. Applications are due August 18, 2023.

The new Community Connectors grant program will help advance locally-driven projects to reconnect communities separated or harmed by divisive transportation infrastructure and access available federal and state funds to support these projects. Applications due July 15.

U.S. DOT’s Equity website provides plans and resources for delivering a more equitable transportation system.


DOT Navigator helps communities understand the best ways to apply for grants, and plan for and deliver transformative infrastructure projects and services.


U.S. DOT Equitable Transportation Community (ETC) Explorer is an interactive web application that uses 2020 Census Tracts and data, to explore the cumulative burden communities experience, as a result of underinvestment in transportation.


U.S. DOT Intersection Safety Challenge is transforming intersection safety through the development of innovative intersection safety systems that identify, predict, and mitigate unsafe conditions involving vehicles and vulnerable road users.
