Palm Beach TPA's Newly Appointed Executive Director, Valerie Neilson

Congratulations to Valerie Neilson for being appointed Executive Director of the Palm Beach TPA during last week's Governing Board meeting! Valerie has served as Interim Executive Director since December 2021 and worked as the TPA's Deputy Director of Multimodal Development for nearly seven years.


A note from Valerie: "My heart is filled with joy and gratitude for being selected as the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency's Executive Director. I look forward to working together to advance a safe, efficient and connected multimodal transportation system."

Village of Wellington Resolutions

The TPA congratulates the Village of Wellington for adopting a Complete Streets Policy and Vision Zero Resolution on July 12 to ensure safe transportation facilities, access for all users, and establish the goal of zero traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. For more information visit PalmBeachTPA.org/safety.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law established the new Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) discretionary grant program, funded with $1 billion over the next five years. The deadline for applications is 11:59 PM EDT on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

Grant Opportunities 

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the new Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over the next five years. In fiscal year 2022 (FY22), up to $1 billion is available. The application process is now open for communities to apply for funding to support regional, local, and Tribal plans, projects and strategies that will prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Safe Routes to School Application Workshop

This 3-hour workshop explains the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program and gives tips on structuring a competitive grant, completing the application, and improving its chances of being selected for some of the $7,000,000 in Florida’s SRTS funding this cycle. Attendees will be going over areas that need improvements in the applications received in previous years.
