The Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency is offering a virtual workshop for the public to give input on transportation issues and opportunities along Okeechobee Blvd. & SR 7. The series will benefit those who are just beginning to implement these innovations, those who are further along and could gain from peer-to-peer engagement, and those with success stories to share. 2021-2022 FRA Railroad Trespass Prevention Summits
The summits’ goals are to raise awareness of the dangers and effects of trespassing, seek out low-cost solutions to local trespassing issues, and discuss practicable ideas for technological improvements for pedestrian safety at highway-rail grade crossings.

Funding Opportunities
Safety Funding Available for Law Enforcement 
FDOT has funding available for law enforcement agencies to conduct High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operations to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Requests for contract proposals will be accepted until funds are exhausted. Learn more at AlertTodayFlorida.com/HVE

America Walks Community Change Grant
The program aims to provide support to our growing network of advocates, grassroots organizers, organizations and agencies using innovative, engaging and inclusive programs and projects to create tangible change at the community level. Applications open in September 2021. Learn More Here

Accelerated Innovative Deployment Grants
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced that the Accelerated Innovative and Deployment Demonstration Program will grant up to $10 million for cost-effective road and bridge projects. These grants are incentives to improve the safety and mobility of eligible highway transportation projects maintained by state departments of transportation (even on behalf of a metropolitan planning organization or local government), tribal governments, and federal lands management agencies.

Florida Bike Safety Laws
Have you heard? Senate Bill 950, Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety, went into effect on July 1, 2021. The bill addresses issues relating to bicycle and pedestrian safety. The first change is allowing motorists to safely and briefly drive to the left, over a double yellow line to pass cyclists. Learn about each new law on our blog!
