Florida Bicycle Month

March was Florida Bicycle Month, and the MPO was busy celebrating with a wide range of events and initiatives. Activities included our annual Florida Bicycle Month Ride, a helmet fitting training course, participation in bicycle safety outreach events, coordination with local municipalities on proclamations, and involvement in panels focused on bicycle safety. We look forward to continuing these efforts next year!

Governing Board Florida Bicycle Month Proclamation

At the March 19 Governing Board meeting, board members adopted a proclamation recognizing March as Florida Bicycle Month. This action highlights the importance of bicycling as a safe, healthy, and sustainable transportation option. The proclamation also reinforces the MPO’s commitment to promoting bicycle safety and encouraging active transportation throughout the region.

Wheels in Motion Event

The MPO participated in the Wheels in Motion event at the Lake Worth Beach Tri-Rail Station last week. Staff connected with riders by sharing bicycle safety resources and gathering feedback on ways to improve safety within the community. Attendees also enjoyed free bicycle tune-ups, helmets, and the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a bicycle.

Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Workshop

The MPO will be hosting a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Workshop on April 3 from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. The workshop will highlight how SRTS helps communities make walking and biking to school safer, more comfortable, and more accessible for students and families. Participants will learn the fundamentals of SRTS and how school-focused safety audits and data-driven planning can identify safety concerns and prioritize improvements. To register for the workshop, visit PalmBeachMPO.org/SRTSWorkshop.
