TPA Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program


Applications for the Palm Beach TPA's Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program are open through February 14! This program, in partnership with FDOT, allocates approximately $5.1M annually to support non-motorized infrastructure projects. Florida Bicycle Month


March is Florida Bicycle Month! The TPA will be hosting a ride on March 21 with route details to be announced soon. Municipalities are encouraged to celebrate Florida Bicycle Month with a proclamation and bicycling events. Learn more at PalmBeachTPA.org/WalkBike.

Roosevelt Estates Project Completed


Roosevelt Estates neighborhood improvements in West Palm Beach are now complete! The project included sidewalk construction, signage and pavement markings, utility and stormwater upgrades, road reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, ADA ramp enhancements, and texturized crosswalks. These upgrades aim to improve safety, accessibility, and quality of life. The project was partially funded by the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program. West Palm Beach Complete Streets Policy


Congratulations to the City of West Palm Beach for adopting a Complete Streets policy! This policy aims to reduce crashes, encourage active transportation, support economic development, and improve environmental and community health. Leadership Palm Beach County Focus Panel


The TPA hosted the latest Leadership Palm Beach County Focus class, featuring panels on transportation and downtown development in Palm Beach County. Industry leaders from Palm Beach International Airport, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority/Tri-Rail, Palm Tran, Related Ross, and the City of West Palm Beach shared their insights. We extend our thanks to all the speakers and attendees.

Palm Beach Gardens Public Safety Day


The Palm Beach TPA participated in the Annual Public Safety Day with the City of Palm Beach Gardens, offering helmet fittings and distributing free helmets to children. The Palm Beach TPA recently donated a bicycle to Jack The Bike Man, a local organization that has been restoring and donating bicycles to community members in need for over 20 years. Funding & Grant Opportunities

Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program aims to strengthen our roads and public transportation systems by providing funding to enhance their resilience against natural disasters and climate change. Over five years, it will allocate $1.4 billion for projects that improve the safety and durability of public transit systems. The deadline to apply is February 24.

The 2025 AARP Community Challenge is accepting applications in three grant categories. Local governments and nonprofits with ready-to-go projects are eligible to apply. The grant program funds local projects that help make communities more livable for people of all ages. The deadline to apply is March 5.

DOT Navigator helps communities understand the best ways to apply for grants and plan for and deliver transformative infrastructure projects and services.


Target Zero Resources: Target Zero was established in the Strategic Highway Safety Plan to provide a framework for how Florida’s communities work to achieve the national vision of zero fatalities and serious injuries.


Safe Mobility Coalition Resources: Whether you are an older adult, family member caregiver, aging service provider, or safety advocate, you will find helpful educational materials and information to help improve the safety, access, and mobility of Florida's aging road users.


Electric Bicycle (E-Bike) Resources: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is advancing research on e-bikes to better understand trends and impacts, and how jurisdictions around the country are managing them.


E-Scooter Safety Toolbox: A resource guide, informed by and developed as part of a Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Project, that offers concise, evidence-based recommendations to help state and local agencies deliver e-scooter safety programs.


Best Workplaces for Commuters: A resource guide that provides detailed summaries of benefits for employers participating in the Best Workplaces for Commuters program.
