Transit Survey


This week is the last chance to fill out the TPA’s Transit Survey to share feedback on transit needs and desires in Palm Beach County! Feedback will be shared with local transit agencies to help shape transportation planning efforts. The survey closes on June 30.

Walk Bike Audits


The TPA conducted Walk Bike Audits around Palm Springs Middle School and Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School to evaluate the conditions and identify safety improvements. Stay tuned for the summary report with findings and recommendations and learn more on the TPA website below.

Brightline Construction to Orlando Complete

Brightline celebrated the completion of its construction to Orlando, paving the way for the launch of service between Central and South Florida. To mark the completion of construction, mayors representing Brightline station municipalities along with Brightline Orlando construction team members gathered to celebrate with a roundtable conversation on transportation and economic impact in Florida.


Brightline’s Orlando expansion broke ground in June 2019, one year after operations began in South Florida between its Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach stations. Service to Orlando is expected to begin in September 2023.

Performance Measures Workshop



The TPA is hosting a workshop with presentations from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to discuss the National Highway System (NHS) Performance Measures and Targets, including how they are established, how the state and Palm Beach County are doing and what a Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) role is in this process.


This workshop will be held on August 17 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the TPA. A virtual option is available for those who cannot attend the workshop in person. Register at PalmBeachTPA.org/PMWorkshop or at the link below.

Tri-Rail Trains Approved for FEC Tracks Testing


The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has received approval from the Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway to test Tri-Rail equipment and train SFRTA personnel on the FEC tracks, in preparation for the anticipated start of Tri-Rail service directly into Downtown Miami. Brightline has also provided authorization for Tri-Rail trains to enter the MiamiCentral Station as part of the testing.

Freight Mobility & Trade Plan 2024 Update


FDOT has kicked off the 2024 Freight Mobility and Trade Plan (FMTP) update. The FMTP is a comprehensive plan that identifies freight transportation needs and facilities critical to the state’s economic growth and guides multimodal freight investments in Florida. The plan helps pave the way for FDOT to provide a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity, and preserves the quality of our environment and communities. Join the regional outreach events to learn more about the FMTP and participate in breakout sessions. Southeast Florida's session will take place in person on June 30 and virtually on July 12.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program


The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established a SS4A discretionary grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over five years. The SS4A FY 2023 grant application window is now open through July 10 to fund regional, local and tribal initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries.

Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program


The vision of the PROTECT Discretionary Grant Program is to fund projects that address the climate crisis by improving the resilience of the surface transportation system, including highways, public transportation, ports, and intercity passenger rail. Applications are due August 18.

The League of American Bicyclists offers bicycle friendly designations to promote bicycling. The applications are due for Bicycle Friendly University on August 10 and Bicycle Friendly Community on August 30.
