Message from SPS Transportation Department
A recently approved transportation expansion for the 2021-2022 school year will provide bus eligibility to an additional 3,000 high school students as well as students selected to attend four Choice Magnet Programs.

Included in the transportation expansion is a move to a three-tier transportation system.
  • Tier 1: High schools and selected elementary elementary schools.
  • Tier 2: Majority of elementary schools and other specialized programs.
  • Tier 3: All middle schools.

Moving from the current two-tier system to a three-tier system will result in start/end time changes for all schools. Preliminary school start/end times, to be finalized after the transportation registration window has closed, are here.

You can determine if you are transportation eligible for the 2021-2022 school year by using one of the three methods listed below:

  1. Search transportation eligibility for your home address here.
  2. Contact your child’s school. Locate the phone number here.
  3. Contact the transportation department at 417-523-0500.
Action Required by Families Eligible for Transportation
Beginning today, families of students eligible for bus service must opt in OR opt out of bus service for the 2021-2022 school year by clicking on the button below. Prior to clicking on the button below, verify that you are transportation eligible (instructions are above) and have the student ID number for each of your transportation eligible students. If you do not have the necessary student ID number, your child's school can provide it to you.

The information obtained from the collection of opt in/opt out data is critical as we begin to plan routes for the upcoming school year and will be crucial in finalizing start/end times for each tier.

It is vital that we receive a response for each bus eligible student opting in OR opting out of bus services for the 2021-2022 school year by April 30. Individuals opting in after the deadline will not be guaranteed transportation on the first day of school.
