Caryophyllene, much like Humulene is a common terpene found in many cannabis strains. This terpene is known for its peppery and woodsy aroma. Caryophyllene is found in many common spices such as black pepper, cinnamon, and hops.
As mentioned last week, Caryophyllene is similar to Humulene in the sense that they are both known to have anti-inflammatory properties. These terps work well with topicals because of the ability to relieve muscle inflammation. Caryophyllene is also known to be beneficial in cancer treatment, chronic pain relief, and help with diabetes.
Some of our strains that contain Caryophyllene:
Cataract Kush
Cherry Burst
Scooby Snacks
Skywalker OG
Budha Tahoe OG

We get questions quite often about how cannabis can aid in better sleep, and as many of you may already know, cannabis is a great tool used in getting a full, uninterrupted night’s sleep. This week, we asked Debbie, our Grants Manager, what she recommends to patients looking to fall asleep faster and curve the pain that may be keeping them up.
“When a patient comes in asking for suggestions to help with sleep and pain, I will suggest smoking an indica flower strain for the instant relief, and taking an indica edible to help with a long lasting relief. This all depends on their tolerance.”
Indica strains are best known for their stress and relaxation characteristics, so using them to promote healthy sleep should come as no surprise. THC also helps inhibit REM sleep, which is useful in treating PTSD related sleep problems and lightening the dream load to promote a restful night.
Ask your Peer Educator what work best for sleep and pain.

The health and safety of our patients and staff is of the utmost importance to us, and as such, we will be requiring all clinic visitors to wear a mask. This is in accordance with state mandate. By protecting each other, we can protect New Mexico and defeat the pandemic together!
If you need a mask, please ask a Peer Educators and we will be happy to provide one for you.
In addition to wearing masks R. Greenleaf would like to remind our patients to practice other Covid-19 safe practices — this includes social distancing, washing your hands multiple times a day, avoid large gatherings, and to not share medicine or medicate with others.
