The City of Scottsdale Solid Waste Services is evaluating container options to improve collection service and maintain a clean, efficient environment for the entire Villa Monterey community. This effort is part of a broader goal to ensure consistency, reduce spillage, and provide containers that meet city standards—while also accommodating the varying needs of residents.
Gina Azima, City Solid Waste Services, with our Community on October 1. We had a high turnout with about 65 residents present. The take-a-ways:
(1) Each household has the option to order new garbage and recycle bins from the City at no charge to the resident.
(2) Garbage bins are black and come in two sizes. Recycle bins are pink and come in two sizes. Each bin comes with a lid.
(3) Gina will receive one ‘consolidated order document’ (a spreadsheet for you Techies) from our community – Villa Monterey 3.
(4) You can use your own container(s) instead of the City-issued ones provided they are black (garbage) and/or pink (recycle) and have a tight-fitting lid. The City will not pick-up garbage/recycle stored in bins of other colors.
(5) The new bins are expected near the first of the year. The City will deliver the bins to our home. At that time, they will pick-up our unwanted bins.
(6) With this roll-out, residents we will not be able to leave bagged garbage (without a bin) to be picked up.
(7) If you have mobility issues and want a smaller-sized bin with wheels, please indicate that on the free-form part of the survey. Note: the larger-sized bin already has wheels.
