Travel Ban Proclamation

January 13, 2026

Dear Prospective F-1 International Students,

The U.S. government has restricted or suspended entry for citizens of many countries.

With the original announcement of these suspensions, the government has also stated:

The Secretary of State shall, in consultation with the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Director for National Intelligence, devise a process to assess whether any suspensions and limitations imposed by sections 2 and 3 of this proclamation should be continued, terminated, modified, or supplemented. Within 90 days of the date of this proclamation, and every 180 days thereafter, the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit a report to the President, through the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security, describing his assessment and recommending whether any suspensions and limitations imposed by sections 2 and 3 of this proclamation should be continued, terminated, modified, or supplemented.

We do not know how long these suspensions will last, but this proclamation tells us they will be reviewed regularly. If you would like to defer (move) your application to a later term, please let us know and we can make that update.

We encourage you to check U.S. embassy websites regularly and continue to watch for updates on this topic.

If you are currently here in the U.S., your status while in the U.S. is not impacted by these proclamations. Do not travel if you are from one of the countries listed below, unless you do not plan to return to the U.S.
