Hello!
With summertime officially behind us, hopefully we can look back at the opportunities it brought for travel. Maybe an annual family vacation, a road trip to your child's college, or a flight overseas, such destinations offer us new sights, activities, and perhaps design inspiration!
In August, I found myself in Sarasota, FL to move my youngest who recently started dancing with the Sarasota Ballet. If I had to pick three elements to sum up the essence of Floridian décor, I'd say tropical prints, foliage, and bright colors! Our family toured the Ringling Museum (the circus family established winter headquarters in Sarasota, leaving much of their history behind) and the Ca' d'Zan, John and Mable's bayside home. Opulent patterns and rich colors filled the mansion and clothed mannequins sporting circus costumes. Catch a glimpse of our visit in this month's "Did You Know."
We may find ourselves staying in hotels and homes whose décor we love. We may see a pillow we'd love to buy for ourselves or maybe an entire room we'd like to recreate. In this month's feature project, the design of a young girl's room was inspired by the décor of a Swiss hotel the family stayed at. Designer Ronnie Harmon was presented with a photograph and was asked to recreate the look of the adjective "boudoir", as you'll see below. Teaming with Ronnie, we helped him complete the look with custom window treatments and an area rug. Read on to see how he was able to recreate this room based on the family's travel inspiration.
With the weather as warm as it has been for this time of year, it is hard to believe the holiday season is just around the corner. Not to worry, there's still time to spruce up the guest room. With the Hunter Douglas Holiday Savings Event, you can deck your halls in style!
Kindest regards,
Margaret
