A Smashing Success

It is hard to believe just a few short days ago we were all enjoying our time in Myrtle Beach - networking, sharing, laughing - and bringing in more travel business into the South! More than 700 delegates made the show what it is today - successful.

Enough cannot be said for the gracious Southern welcome provided by Myrtle Beach CVB, South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism and all of the respective partners and sponsors.

Make plans to join us in Baton Rouge, La. March 8-11, 2020.

Transition of Domestic Showcase

As announced earlier this month, Domestic Showcase will be transitioning to Southeast Tourism Society starting in 2021. "Combining the marketplace of Domestic Showcase with the educational opportunities of STS will offer attendees enhanced value and create a stronger foundation for networking, education, and advocacy efforts in the Southern USA," said Liz Bittner, president & CEO of Travel South USA.

2020 Australian Sales Mission

The dates for the Travel South 2020 Australian Sales Mission have been set. From June 15-19, 2020 we will be headin' down under to share our great destinations, attractions and culinary delights. Australia continues to be a leading emerging overseas market to the Southern USA Region. In 2018, Australia grew an additional 3% in inbound visit to the US according to Tourism Economics, contributing to an overall 4.3% year over year growth from international visits the Travel South Region outpacing California, New York and Florida.
Percolating Partnership

Starbucks and the U.S. Civil Rights Trail (USCRT) have developed a novel way to increase recognition of Civil Rights monuments.  Starbucks, which reached out to the USCRT, is now distributing Civil Rights Trail maps to its customers.  The stores are located near Civil Rights Trail monuments or in specially  designated community stores across the United States. Those stores include Long Beach, Miami Gardens, Ferguson, Baltimore, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Jamaica Queens, NY, Brooklyn, Trenton and Birmingham. We believe that tourism in these communities will get a nice boost from these maps; we so appreciate Starbucks for this fresh approach in educating its customers about Civil Rights history.
