Greetings from clear but cold Lynnwood, Washington.
The deals keep coming, so I am writing to you twice a week.
We just got the most amazing deal from Windstar, and I had to pass it along to you right away.
We have done cruises in the past with Windstar, and everyone just loves them! Windstar operates two types of cruise ships: their “sailing” ships, which operate some of the time under sails; and their “yacht” ships, which have the feel of a country club or a private yacht.
We have done many groups on their yacht ships, and the feedback is nothing but positive. A couple of years ago, Windstar “stretched” their ships, adding public space and 50 additional suites. These ships now carry a maximum of 312 guests in spacious comfort. Of course, when they stretched the ship, they rebuilt the ship so that it was all brand new. The food and service aboard Windstar is over the top!
People love how comfortable the ship is, with spacious and inviting public rooms and restaurants. There is even a lounge behind the navigational bridge, where you can go for a coffee, cocktail or snack, and feel like you are in your friend’s private home. The bridge is open almost all the time, so you can experience the view from the bridge, or have a chat with the officer of the watch. There are plenty of dining options, especially for a ship with only 312 guests.
The suites aboard the Star Legend are not only beautiful and modern, but they are big. Most of the Oceanview Suites aboard the Star Legend are a huge 277 square feet…about 50% larger than your average cruise ship stateroom.
What people enjoy the most about a Windstar cruise are the itineraries… Their ships are in port almost every day, and often in port until late in the evening. These intimate yachts can get in passages and canals that the larger ships cannot, and often dock much closer in the ports of call.
For this voyage, we put together three fantastic Windstar itineraries to create one Travel With Alan cruise, from Barcelona to Athens. We then added the air, the transfers, and a two-night post-cruise package in Athens to make this a very complete tour package.
Join our group on March 23rd as we fly from airports across the U.S. and Canada to Barcelona, Spain. Upon arrival in Barcelona, you will be met and transferred to the Port of Barcelona, where you will board the beautiful Windstar Star Legend. After boarding, you will have the rest of the day, overnight, and until 3:00 PM the next day to explore one of my favorite cities in the world. The next day, you will embark on an incredible journey to all of these ports of call:
· Barcelona, Spain (overnight in port)
· Marseille, France
· Nice, France (2 full days)
· Livorno, Italy
· Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy (2 full days)
· Rome, Italy
· Ponza, Pontine Islands, Italy
· Sorrento, Italy
· Messina, Sicily, Italy (2 full days)
· Gytheio, Greece
· Monemvasia, Greece
· Piraeus (Athens), Greece
· Mykonos, Greece
· Heraklion Crete, Greece
· Rhodes, Greece (2 full days)
· Bodrum, Turkey
· Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey
· Patmos, Greece
· Piraeus (Athens), Greece
What an itinerary…in port ever day but one. Also, there are four ports of call where you stay for two full days, for intensive port exploration. In addition, there are five ports of call where you stay until 8:00 PM, or later!
As usual, the best part about this package is the price…$6980 per person, based on double occupancy, for an Oceanview Suite…for the full 25-night/27-day package. Government taxes, fees, and port expenses of $438 per person are additional. This price includes the round-trip air from most major U.S. and Canadian airports to Barcelona, Spain, the 23-night cruise aboard Star Legend. Windstar’s “All-Inclusive” package, including prepaid onboard gratuities, complimentary internet, and the “Unlimited Beverage” package. You will have complimentary valet laundry service, so all your laundry is done for you. You can also upgrade to one of the Star Legend’s French Balcony Suites, which feature a step-out balcony for an additional $1650 per person.
This cruise will also include a Windstar “Signature Event”. You will be treated to a special gourmet dinner, beautifully served in the Library of Celsius in Ephesus…an exclusive experience.
At the end of the cruise, we will include two nights in Athens, Greece. This post-cruise package will feature an Athens city tour, including a guided visit to ethe New Acropolis Museum, two-nights at a first-class hotel, and a special Greek “Farewell Dinner” with a Greek Folkloric show. On April 18th, nearly a month after you left home, you will be transferred to Athens International Airport for your flight home. What an adventure! Your “private yacht” takes you to so many cities and countries, with plenty of time to explore…and the price is right!
