The Land of the Thunder Dragon, or Bhutan, as it is more commonly known, is a small country tucked away in the heart of the Himalayas between India and the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. Its ancient history relies heavily on Buddhism, local mythology and legend. Fortunate are the few travelers to visit this special place, with it's famed Tiger's Nest Monastery, dramatic and lush landscapes, and the beautiful Bhutanese people.

I have the good fortune to be returning for the third time with another photo tour group to this amazing country and also to continue the Eyeglass Project I began with Dr. Mark Helm, ophthalmologist in my hometown of Steamboat Springs, CO. My trip participants and I have helped many Bhutanese be able to see better with the gift of new eyeglasses!

Fun fact: In Bhutan, Gross National Happiness is more important than Gross National Product.
