Traveling Story Walks


Join the Plainfield Public Library, Plainfield Police Department and Plainfield Park District for three Story Walks in three different parks this summer! For each event, there is a craft that goes with the featured story and a frozen sweet treat courtesy of the Plainfield Police Department! No need to register. All dates are FREE!

Movie in the Park


Bring a chair, blanket, some snacks and do not forget the family for a night out under the stars. The final Movie in the Park starts at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.) at Settlers’ Park. No registration is necessary for this FREE event.

Unplug Illinois Day


Join the Plainfield Park District 10 a.m. to noon, July 15 at Bott Park for activities that will connect you with nature and unplug from electronic technology. Activities include:

This is a FREE EVENT for the public to celebrate Unplug Illinois Day, a program of the Illinois Park & Recreation Association promoting unplugging for an analog day of play in community parks.

Summer Basketball Camps


A few spots remain open for next week's summer basketball camps for ages 6-7 and 8-9. Participants learn new skills and enhance current ones, including work on passing, dribbling and shooting with individual work and mini games. Camp for ages 6-7 runs 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Camp for ages 8-9 runs 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Ice Cream Social


Beat the summer heat and cool down with a sweet treat at the Annual Ice Cream Social 4 to 6 p.m., August 5 at Village Green. Cost is $5/$7 resident/non-resident and includes activities, games/prizes, after-hour access to the splash pad, and, of course, ice cream!

Plainfield River Tubing donated proceeds from all trips taken July 3 to the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation. The incredible generosity amounted to a $4,300 donation. Park District earns prestigious budget award


The Plainfield Park District recently announced that its Annual Budget document earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the seventh straight year the Park District has earned the distinction.

SilverSneakers at Prairie Fit


The Plainfield Park District is proud to announce it now offers SilverSneakers through the Prairie Fit Fitness Center located within the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center at 24550 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield.


SilverSneakers is a health and fitness program designed for adults 65+ that’s included with many Medicare plans. A SilverSneakers membership is the same as a Prairie Fit membership. It includes use of the track, open gym and fitness center. Classes are not included.


Those wishing to participate must first check eligibility at SilverSneakers.com/check. Once confirmed, visit Prairie Fit to begin your fitness journey.
