Travels

It's always good to get out break out of the common paths we all tread.  It's so easy to get into a routine: Antiques Road Show on Monday, fish on Friday, etc.

So, we headed west on Amtrak's California Zephyr two weeks ago today.

Don't get me started.

I have two words for you:  Do. It.

Then off to Tucson to visit family for close to a week, back to Maine on Monday.

As you know, new routines does not mean that booksellers don't keep looking at books and I picked up some beauties -- the Arion Press edition of Shakespeare's Sonnets, a copy of Gwendolyn Brooks' only work of fiction (signed!), and this crucial piece of Cold War history:

In the Matter of J. Robert Oppenheimer (1954)

You just never know what you're going to stumble on -- there are four more items below. I continue to catalog, so check this link for even more:

New Arrivals

A few weeks ago I sent you an email outlining my plans to step back from a bricks and mortar store and shift to a business model that is online and combined with the occasional book fair.  If you or someone you know might be interested in a fine inventory, an amazing space, and an exciting career as a used and rare bookstore owner in Belfast, Maine, please reach out.

As always, the next time you're in the area make it a point to visit Craig Olson Books at 99 Main Street in Belfast, Maine, where we have a large selection of books in all subjects, and a few hundred on architecture, art, design.

Hoffer was self-educated, never completing high school, if even the lesser grades. Much of his early life was spent roaming the country as a migrant worker, by 1943 he found permanent employment on the docks of San Francisco as a longshoreman where he worked, while writing, until his retirement in 1964 when he became an adjunct professor at the University of California-Berkeley. This is his second book.
