The Best Deep Creek Lake Activities
Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of planning a trip is deciding how you’ll spend your time. Whether you’re looking for action and exploration or just a
quiet weekend away
, there are tons of activities suited for all desires and lifestyles. Our rural setting provides the perfect backdrop and playground for an array of outdoor activities.
The abundant natural snow and cold temperatures create a winter wonderland, providing the perfect terrain for downhill skiing at Wisp Resort, cross-country skiing, and even riding snowmobiles across the frozen lake! Wisp Resort also offers several other winter activities in their adventure park. Slide down the lanes in the tubing park solo or with your group, then lace up your skates and glide across the ice rink!
While the fair-weather activities may seem aplenty, there are several things to do when the weather is less than cooperative Deep Creek Lake is suited for speed boats, pontoon boats, sailboats, personal water crafts, stand-up paddle-boarding, kayaking, swimming, wake-boarding, wake surfing, and water skiing! The lake is generally used April through October. Another lake favorite is fishing! Anglers enjoy the lake almost year-round with open water and ice fishing seasons. Aside from the lake, visitors and locals often take advantage of the several state parks and hiking trails scattered throughout the county.

or tackle the hike to Maryland’s Highest Point! Some hiking trails are groomed for winter cross-country skiing, too! Road and Mountain biking are also very popular in our area. Our challenging terrain is perfect for cyclists of all levels, and several major races take place in our area, including the Gran Fondo, the Savageman Triathlon, and the Race Across America.
