Trick or Treat the Avenue is fast approaching still time to donate bags of candy please drop them off at the Chamber and we will share those with our businesses and organizations participating.

Tuesday, October 31st, from 5:30-7 p.m. Downtown Clarksville Virginia will be hosting Trick or Treat on the Avenue! It’s a safe & fun way to Trick or Treat and a great way to load up on those sweet treats! Over 55 merchants and civic organizations will be participating and most will be dressed up in their costumes and handing out treats from 2nd Street to 7th Street. The streets will be closed and filled with fun!! The Chamber will be delivering Treat maps to Clarksville elementary schools and preschools. We encourage everyone to walk in the street, walking east towards the lake on the Town hall (south) side and walking west on the north side of the street toward Ayala’s. Rain date is November 1st

Members...Board election ballots are due by October 31st, please review and turn them in by the deadline for vote for TWO candidates.

An associate member can only turn in one ballot, Businesses 1-34 employees/organizations can turn in two ballots from employed staff. Businesses with 35 plus employees and Financial Institutions can turn in 3 ballots from employed staff. Hope this helps with any confusion. BALLOT

Last class of the season! Get your safety certificate for those days on the lake this fall! A live, in-person classroom brought to you by your local Coast Guard Auxiliary!

Boat America is a boating certificate class that offers an in-depth and interesting boating safety course, and provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boating certificate.

Some insurance companies will also offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course.

TOPICS INCLUDE

  • Introduction to Boating – Types of power boats, boating vocabulary, sailboats, paddle boats, powering boats, and engine types.
  • Boating Law – Boat registration, regulations, hull identification numbers, required safety equipment, Federal boating law, state boating law, and reporting accidents.
  • Safety Equipment – Life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound-producing devices, visual distress signals, anchors, and other safety equipment.
  • Safe Operation and Navigation – Buoys and beacons, aids to navigation, navigation rules, docking, and the dangers of alcohol on the water.
  • Boating Emergencies – Hypothermia, boating accidents, man overboard, capsizing, emergency radio calls, carbon monoxide dangers, and weather.
  • Trailering – Types of trailers, lights, hitches, towing a trailer.
  • Sports and Boating – Water-skiing, hunting and hunting gear, PWC operation, and other boating tips.
