Treaty Sleuthing: Spaces & Places

After decades of fighting over hunting grounds, the Dakota and the Metis gathered at “Sioux Coulee” near present day Langdon, North Dakota. Gifts of tobacco, tea and sugar were exchanged and a feast and ceremony took place during what is remembered today as The Dakota-Metis Treaty of 1861.

What are our In-School Support Teachers up to?

IN-SCHOOL SUPPORT:

Siobhan Faulkner

"Most of my work has been with school teams. As part of many school's PD days, I have been able to give a brief Treaty overview to support staff . The sessions included an overview of the Treaty Kit, the 5 W's of Treaties and some hands-on activities at a variety of grade levels."

Our In-School Support Team is here to help! We can support you in the classroom in-person or virtually. We offer:

  • Co-teaching Treaty Education lessons
  • Help in implementing Treaty Education Kit resources
  • Tips on incorporating local Treaty history
  • Support for PLCs and staff professional development
  • We also offer French language support for Immersion and French classes. Make sure to note that you would like our French-speaking In-School Support teacher when you book.
