The Treaty Education team has hit the ground running in the realm of professional development. In September, we offered two first-day (of two non-consecutive) sessions numbering over 1,300 participants in total. Thanks to Portage la Prairie School Division, Pine Creek School Division, and Garden Valley School Division for hosting us! Earlier this month 300 educators joined us online and in-person for 2 days of Treaty Education training.

Don't forget that Manitoba Teachers Society's annual PD day is on Friday, October 20. Our Treaty Education team members will be at the following conferences:

Featured Teaching Resource (in French)

You and your students can visit the Agowiidiwinan Centre at The Forks. There you will find a series of standalone panels that offer a historical and contemporary understanding of Treaties. This month's featured teaching resource is the text of these panel texts written in French. Engage students in the content by creating a scavenger hunt; fortify literacy skills such as main idea, themes, cause and effect, and inferences; highlight key words and terms; or use the articles as a springboard for further discussion and research about Treaties. Click the document to access.Click Here to access the document in English.
