Treaty Education is a cross-curricular initiative meant to support Manitoba teachers. While the knowledge-based content found in history, geography, and social studies links seamlessly to Treaty Education outcomes, there are ample opportunities for educators to embed Treaty Education into math, science, English languages arts, art, and so on. Be sure to scroll down and check out this month's teaching resource for a suite of interdisciplinary learning experiences.

Congratulations to Brett Schmall who is the new Treaty Consultant with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning’s department of Indigenous Excellence. Brett is French Métis (from St. Norbert) with kinship ties to the Courchaine, Blais and Pilon families. He is on an interchange with the government from Hanover School Division, where he worked as the divisional Indigenous Learning and Assessment Coach. His new role will see him supporting Treaty Catalyst teachers, and he is excited about it. When he isn’t ‘Talking Treaty’ Brett enjoys spending time with family and being outside. To contact Brett, email Brett.Schmall@gov.mb.ca.
