Important Dates for Grant Road
|
|
The Department of Transportation contracted a Road Safety Analysis (RSA). It is completed and almost ready to share. Jefferson Park is extremely interested in the safety changes that must be made to the dangerous Mountain/Grant intersection. Here's what we know so far:
The report will be released well ahead of the Community Task Force meeting. The intent is for everyone to review it before that meeting. Psomas has offered to discuss or clarify the study ahead of the CTF meeting.
To recap, the timeline:
1) March - RSA Released to Community Task Force (CTF), Ward offices and Public.
2) April - Time for public to review the RSA, design team (Psomas) available for clarification, questions, input.
3) Late April - CTF meeting with RSA as an agenda item.

Crime in JP - Who and when
|
|
TPD reports that crimes are largely connected to student vacation times, and students are the main, but not the only, target. TPD reports that security cameras can help. If there is a burglary, an officer will ask if any neighbor caught anyone on camera. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH can also help, see https://www.tucsonaz.gov/police/neighborhood-watch

Do you need help with property taxes or have questions about eligibility for property tax relief?
There are a variety of relief programs for those who meet the criteria, including a senior freeze, a disabled persons exemption, and a widow/widower’s exemption. In addition, there is information about the Pima County Assessor's Rapid Response Program, which will assist property owners that have suffered a catastrophic loss due to fire or flooding.
The 2023 Notices of Value were mailed out on February 23, 2022. The appeal deadline is April 25, 2022.
Complete information can be located on the website at https://www.asr.pima.gov or contact the Assessor's office at (520) 724-8630.

In a recent meeting between JPNA and Ward III, neighbors asked about the promised street repaving between Park and Mountain from Chauncey Lane to Grant Road.
The project is out to bid, which closes on March 25. The City hopes to start the project at the end of April or the beginning of May. However, all depends on bids, availability of contractors, and availability of materials, etc.
Meanwhile folks, here's a new idea lifted from the newsletter of the Garden District. Something like, if all you have is lemons....make lemonade! Street Golf while we wait.

TEP - 138kV Poles
Negotiations with City - Public Meeting, April 6
|
|
As you know, for the past few months, TEP has been in negotiations with the City of Tucson regarding the Kino to DeMoss-Petrie Transmission Line Project.
The initial draft of the proposed exceptions were reviewed at a Planning Commission Study Session this past Wednesday evening, the 16th. A public meeting to review the exception criteria, and for you to provide comments and input is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 at 6:00PM. Details to follow.
Thank you for your continuing interest and support. We've made a lot of progress since the Coalition joined forces, and it is critical that we continue to work together and insist upon undergrounding the lines.
