Good evening, San Gabriel

We hope you had an excellent Thanksgiving holiday. As we approach the festive season, be sure to join us on December 4 at Plaza Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. for our annual tree lighting ceremony. We hope to see you there!

Now, here's what's making news for the week of November 28, 2018:
City Council to hold a public hearing on the formation of the San Gabriel Tourism and Marketing Improvement District
San Gabriel lodging business owners with 100 rooms or more decided to pursue formation of the SGTMID in order to create a revenue source devoted to marketing San Gabriel as a tourist, meeting and event destination. If established, the SGTMID would generate approximately $193,000 on an annual basis for promotion of travel and tourism specific to San Gabriel.

You can read more about this and other items in our preview of the December 4 City Council meeting.

Holiday Tree Lighting to take place December 4
Kick off your holiday season at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, December 4!

Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Plaza Park located at 428 South Mission Drive, across from City Hall. The holiday fun includes ornament making, sponsored by the San Gabriel Women’s Foundation, entertainment by local schools and youth groups, and of course, the big guy himself, Santa Claus!
Marshall Park picnic areas now available for reservations
The Community Services Department continually strives to ensure that patrons have a pleasant and safe place to enjoy the outdoors. The City currently has three parks that provide a space for recreation programs, events and leisure activities: Vincent Lugo Park, Smith Park and Marshall Park.

The parks have picnic areas for public use for picnics, birthday parties, reunions, or other types of get-togethers. The areas can accommodate parties of 50 to 125 people.
Send a letter to Santa
The Community Services Department and Santa's elves have been very busy this season building you a special mailbox so that your letters are delivered to the North Pole.

Tell Santa a little something about yourself and how you’ve been good all year! Santa will respond to every child who writes him. Drop off your letters in the special mailbox located inside the Community Services Department.
