Students Flourishing

CCDO is proud of our 9th grade English students who all passed their exams with flying colors. They will continue on to high school with proficient knowledge of the English language.

Safety & Health in School Project

We are continuing to train the teachers to present important topics to keep the students safe and healthy.

50 school health teachers were recruited from 25 schools and provided ToT on Primary Health and Prevention, Reproductive Health, STIs and HIV/AIDS, First Aid, Road Safety, Anti-Drug Information and Early Marriage Prevention including Human Trafficking Awareness. They will serve as trainers for continuing education.

Within these months, the project team worked with school health teachers in the target schools providing:

142 session/classes to 4,318 students (Female: 2,134) from grade 1 to grade 6 on nutrition, 148 sessions were training to 4,456 students (Female: 2,246) from grade 1 to grade 8 on food safety, and 12 sessions were training to 645 students (Female: 359) from secondary and high schools from grade 7-8 and grade 11 on puberty, reproductive health, and personal hygiene.

A huge shout out to Texel Foundation who are funding this program.

Fruit Orchards Flourish

For the past few years, Rotary Club Sentosa, Singapore, has been planting fruit orchards in the adopt a school program during their members’ field visits. These orchards were planted in the same schools where new toilet blocks were built sponsored by Rotary Global Grants. Here are some photos of orchards that have flourished to provide fruit for the children.

Pchum Ben Holiday

Pchum Ben, at its core, serves as a powerful reminder to continue the tradition of offering food to monks and to honor ancestors who have passed on. Cambodians don't wait for Pchum Ben to pay respects; they visit the pagoda on their ancestor's anniversaries and even on birthdays. This timeless festival also imparts valuable lessons to the younger generation on the importance of showing respect to their relatives, not just during Pchum Ben but all year round.

Pchum Ben is more than just a festival. It’s a heartfelt tradition that underscores the enduring importance of family, gratitude, and respect in Cambodian culture.

CCDO will respectfully close our offices on 19 Sept – 25 Sept so the staff can take the time to remember their ancestors.

Donors

CCDO is grateful for the continued support of Tawingo Foundation via SE Asia Foundation. The $10,000 donation to be used for general needs helps keep the lights on and additionally supports our education programs.
