Severe Weather on June 11, 2026 | |
On June 11, at approximately 7:54 p.m., the National Weather Service issues an urgent alert instructing residents to take immediate shelter due to a high likelihood of tornado development in the area. According to DuComm, the Bartlett Tornado siren went off at 7:54 p.m.
Preliminary US National Weather Service- Chicago Illinois surveyed an EF-1 tornado went through Bartlett. Assessments are not yet complete and will be conducted in the following days.

Mayor Gunsteen has declared a local state of disaster for the Village of Bartlett as of June 12th, 2026.
The Village of Bartlett is dedicated to helping our residents with the aftermath of the storm damage from last night. We are currently assessing damage and will continue with formal damage assessments on Monday, June 15. We are grateful that there are no reported injuries or fatalities in Bartlett.
The Police Department will have extra patrols out over the weekend, and our Public Works crews are out removing trees from roadways and sidewalks. Please keep all refuse and other debris separate from brush and place it to be picked up on the curb by Groot on Tuesday, June 16. A special brush collection will be scheduled for next week.
We ask residents to please exercise caution in areas affected by damage. Call our non-emergency line:

Debris Clean Up
Monday, June 15: Street Sweeping to clean up roadways begins and will continue throughout the week.
Week of June 15: Our Public Works team and Trees R’ Us will be back out for a follow-up to pick up the remaining brush and smaller branches.
- Place brush along parkway
- Place debris and refuse for Groot’s regularly scheduled pick-up on Tuesday
- DO NOT MIX debris/garbage with brush or it will not be picked up.
Please ensure all debris is placed on the curb and kept out of the street, off the sidewalks, and away from fire hydrants so our crews can work safely and efficiently.

SCAM ALERT: Post-Storm Repair Scams
Following severe weather, you may see an increase in out-of-town contractors and door-to-door solicitors offering quick repairs for roof, siding, or tree damage. While some are legitimate, many use aggressive, high-pressure tactics to take advantage of residents needing immediate help.
These individuals often point out "damage" you can't easily see and pressure you to make an on-the-spot decision. They may demand a large cash deposit upfront and then disappear or do shoddy work. In some cases, they might even start working on your property without a signed contract or a permit, demanding payment later.
How to Handle Door-to-Door Solicitors
- Post a Sign: Hang a "No Solicitors" sign by your front door to deter unwanted knocks.
- Set Boundaries: Never let a solicitor inside your home.
- Be Firm: Tell solicitors you are not interested and ask them to leave your property. If they refuse to leave, call the police.
- Hours: Prohibited from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Sundays and National Holidays
Protect Yourself When Hiring a Contractor
- Check Credentials: Look up the company with the Better Business Bureau and check their reviews.
- Get Multiple Bids: Don't settle for the first person who knocks on your door. Compare estimates.
- Get It in Writing: Always demand a written contract explaining the materials to be used and the total cost of the project.
- No Cash: Do not pay in cash and be very careful if a company wants a check made out to "cash."
- Beware Permit Tricks: Be highly leery of contractors who tell you that you don’t need a permit, or who offer to do the job cheaper if one isn’t pulled.

Call the Bartlett Building Division at 630-540-5920 to verify that a contractor is officially registered with the village or to check if your specific repair requires a permit.
Remember, if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
If you find yourself a victim of this type of scam, or if you are threatened by a solicitor, do not give them any money. Call the police immediately to file a report and provide any documentation or doorbell camera footage you may have to assist with the investigation.

Bartlett Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Memorial Day traffic enforcement campaign. Bartlett Police Department’s participation in this statewide traffic safety initiative was fully funded by a grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs & Engineering.
Bartlett Police Department conducted specialized traffic enforcement which resulted in the following:
- Two motorists were charged for driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Two motorists were charged for driving while license suspended.
- Two motorists were charged for not having a valid driver’s license.
- One motorist was charged for not having a valid commercial driver’s license.
- One motorist was charged for aggravated speeding
- 6 citations were issued for speeding violations.
- 10 citations were issued for seatbelt violations.
- 28 citations were issued for other moving and non-moving violations.
