Celebrating 100 Years of Tradition at Bartlett Hills | | |
The Bartlett Hills Golf Club officially opened on September 26, 1926. Designed by Charles E. Maddox, this 18-hole course was constructed using horses and mules to move earth, build greens, and shape fairways.
The Village of Bartlett purchased the 743-acre property in 1978 and underwent renovation in 1997, marking the transition from its historic barn to the clubhouse you see today.
Bartlett Hills has served as the setting for countless milestones, including baby showers, birthdays, graduations, weddings, and celebrations of life. It has become an integral part of the community and a source of goodwill through partnerships with impactful organizations such as the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and high school golfers.

To celebrate 100 years of tradition at Bartlett Hills, the Village President and Board of Trustees invite you to "Head to the Hills" on Saturday, July 25.
Head to the Hills Family Golf Festival is a free event that will feature a variety of fun family golf games and play, complimentary hot dogs and snacks for the first 100 guests to sign up, and gift bags for the first 100 kids and adults!

Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Village of Bartlett for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2025.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Congratulations to Museum Director Pam Rohleder and Museum Assistant Reagan Koehler for their work with the Route 20 Collaboration. The Route 20 Collaboration are recipients of the 2026 Award of Merit for Community Partnerships from the Illinois Association of Museums for their video!
The Bartlett History Museum, Elmhurst History Museum, Addison Historical Museum and the Elgin History Museum formed the Route 20 Collaboration to mark and celebrate the centennial anniversary of US Route 20 in 2026. As part of this project, each museum produced a one-minute video highlighting the iconic highway's impact on their specific community, which were then combined into a single, cohesive film.
Come visit the Bartlett History Museum’s new exhibit, “Route 20: A Century of Travel Through Bartlett,” curated by Reagan Koehler, former museum assistant. The exhibition is located in Bartlett Village Hall, 228 S. Main Street, in the hallway to the council chamber. A portion of Bartlett’s contribution to the highway’s history is on display, along with 20 fun facts about the highway. Learn about the Tastee Freeze, Hoot-Toot & Whistle Railway, Tom’s Farm Stand, The Embers and much more! Did you know Route 20 the longest U.S. Highway, beginning in Newport, Oregon, and ending in Boston, Massachusetts!

Remembering Route 66
This nostalgia-packed lecture, hosted by the Bartlett History Museum and presented by historian Leslie Goddard, explores the history of Route 66. Learn why Route 66 remains so indelibly associated with the lore of the American road trip.
The program will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at Village Hall at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments, pre-program begins at 6:45 p.m.

A Walking Tour of Bartlett's History Through its Trees
In celebration of Arbor Day, join the museum staff and village forester on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:00 am OR 1:00 pm for an approximate 1 ½ hour walking tour beginning at the Bartlett Depot Museum.
Learn all about tree diversity, diseases, queens, architecture, and more as we explore the heart of historic Bartlett from nature’s point of view.
