The Bartlett Police Department will partner with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, South Elgin Police Department, and Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to conduct a Roadside Safety Check during the overnight hours of August 7th, 2026, into August 8th, 2026. The purpose of this detail is to promote roadway safety, deter impaired driving, verify driver’s license and vehicle compliance, and reduce crashes associated with impaired, unsafe, or unlawful driving. These checkpoints have proven to be a significant deterrent to impaired driving. They will be conducted in part with grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Kane County DUI Task Force.
“The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office is proud to partner with the Bartlett Police Department on this important roadway safety initiative,” said Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser. “These safety checkpoints help reinforce safe driving habits, reduce crashes and injuries on our roadways, and identify impaired drivers who put others at risk. Our attorneys will be available to assist officers through the search warrant process when necessary to ensure compliance with Illinois law.”
The Bartlett Police Department reminds motorists to plan ahead by designating a sober driver, using rideshare or taxi services, and never driving impaired. Illinois law prohibits driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, intoxicating compounds, or any combination thereof.
