New Water Rates starting May 1 | |
A water and sewer rate study by Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. determined that the Village must replace 1% of its watermains annually and invest $1.1 million per year in sewer maintenance.
To fund these critical infrastructure projects, the Village Board has approved a water rate increase of 8% and a sewer rate increase of 5%, effective May 1, 2026. And to ensure continued fiscal oversight, these rates will be reviewed and adjusted annually during the budget process.
The study also recommended a more equitable rate structure based on consumption. By utilizing a base charge tied to meter size and a tiered structure for residential users, the system now ensures that heavy users—such as industrial customers—pay their proportionate share. Under this new model, approximately 80% of residential customers will see an increase of less than $10.00, while low-volume users, including many seniors, may see their bills decrease. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Bartlett Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to remind motorists to “Drop It and Drive.”
At a time when traffic fatalities are on the rise in Illinois and across the country, the Bartlett Police Department is committed to reducing the traffic crashes caused by distractions like texting or talking on a cell phone. Motorists can expect to see increased patrols and enforcement zones the entire month of April.
