Sweet Start to Summer at Cherry On Top! | | |
Last Friday, the Bartlett Police Department kicked off the season with a fantastic community gathering at Cherry On Top. With nearly 800 free scoops of ice cream handed out, the turnout was absolutely incredible! Joining the department to help scoop up some ice cream were Village President Gunsteen, Village Administrator Schumacher, Chief Conway, and Trustees Gandsey and Battermann.
The afternoon also served as the official launch for the police department’s upcoming summer community engagement initiatives.
A major highlight of the event was promoting the newly implemented Neighborhood Roll Calls. This program is designed to:

Increase Visibility: Bring officers directly into local neighborhoods throughout the summer.

Build Relationships: Strengthen community partnerships and foster positive, face-to-face interactions between officers and residents.

Wastewater Lab Technician Retires After 26 Years | |
After more than two and a half decades of unwavering dedication, the Village extends its deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to Mark McCue, who is officially retiring from the Public Works Department. Mark has been a cornerstone of our local infrastructure, serving as a vital lab technician at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for an impressive 26 years.
While many public servants look forward to enjoying their well-earned rest the moment they hit the traditional 25-year milestone, Mark made the selfless decision to stay on board a bit longer. His specific goal was to ensure that the new treatment plant was fully up, running, and operating smoothly before he finally passed the torch.
Mark’s daily work at the WWTP has largely been behind the scenes, but his precise, technical efforts have been essential to keeping our systems safe, compliant, and efficient. His institutional knowledge and his willingness to see a major new facility through its critical launch phase speak volumes about his character and his profound dedication to public service.

The Village extends its deepest gratitude to Mark McCue for his incredible work ethic, his expertise, and the 26 years he gave to Bartlett. Colleagues and residents alike wish him a long, healthy, and incredibly happy retirement.

To celebrate this monumental milestone, the Village of Bartlett is thrilled to announce our Patriotic Porches & Storefronts Decorating Contest. We are inviting everyone to break out the bunting and transform our village into a sea of red, white, and blue. Whether your style is classic Americana or incredibly creative, we want to see it. We will be awarding an official "2026 Patriotic Contest Winner" yard sign and gift certificate to one home and one business.
How to Enter: Entry is completely free! Simply decorate your property and post a photo and tag the official Village of Bartlett Facebook page or Discover Bartlett Instagram by June 28th.
The Big Announcement: The excitement doesn't end online. Join us at the Bartlett Fourth of July Festival at Apple Orchard Park on July 5th! Our judging committee will deliberate at the event, and the winners will be announced live.

| IDOT Traffic Safety Campaign Results | |
Bartlett Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Memorial Day traffic enforcement campaign. Bartlett Police Department’s participation in this statewide traffic safety initiative was fully funded by a grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs & Engineering.
Bartlett Police Department conducted specialized traffic enforcement which resulted in the following:
- Two motorists were charged for driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Two motorists were charged for driving while license suspended.
- Two motorists were charged for not having a valid driver’s license.

One motorist was charged for not having a valid commercial driver’s license.

One motorist was charged for aggravated speeding
-
6 citations were issued for speeding violations.
- 10 citations were issued for seatbelt violations.
-
28 citations were issued for other moving and non-moving violations.
