Hello!

In writing this month's newsletter, I've been looking back on the past years' that we've sent out. Wow! How the business has evolved! We've rebranded, reformatted and featured so many beautiful homes in the Greater Annapolis area. Within the office, the Sew Beautiful Team continues to change and grow. After 13 years working side by side, I'm sad to see Sheri leave, but excited for her future success with Edward Jones. We welcome Amy Publicover as our new Project Manager and Ronnie Harmon as Designer. This dynamic team is excited to work on your new projects!

The post-holiday letdown often motivates homeowners to make plans to redecorate their rooms in the months ahead. So, this newsletter features 2019 trends to inspire your vision. We've got the scoop on color palettes, fabrics and textures, and we're happy to help you update your space!

With the new year comes new savings. Hunter Douglas is running its Energy Smart Style Savings Event through April 8. With the record low temperatures we're experiencing this winter, now is a great time to invest in new shades that will help keep your home warm!

Kindest regards,

Margaret

Did You Know?
Each year, the Pantone Color Institute reveals a Color of the Year. Their selection is informed by socioeconomic trends, current events, and forecasts for the future. We’ve seen shades of every color and their accompanying descriptions that are almost reminiscent of horoscopes.

This new year welcomes Living Coral to the color palette. According to the Institute, it offers a balance between nature and technology; it’s “a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media.”
2019 Trends
Back in October, our team went to High Point Market - the industry’s annual home furnishings show - to see what our vendors had in store for 2019. Overall, we noticed the trends pointing towards clean, simple lines, a neutral palette, and texture.
A neutral palette offers a foundation for pops of color (like Pantone’s Living Coral) and texture. We’re seeing warmer tones of taupe and beige replacing the cooler grays that have been so popular for years.

Wallpaper  and coordinating fabrics are back! Geometrics, florals, grasscloth, and faux wood are trending in both paper and vinyl. We’re also seeing  large florals  in fabrics and wallpapers. Either printed or embroidered, they add dimension and texture to draperies, valances, bedding and pillows.

We’re seeing Sheer fabrics  – but not your Grandma’s sheers! New weaves and embroidered patterns update this versatile fabric that works great for roman shades and panels.  Sheers can complete a room, frame the view, provide some privacy, and control the light.

Natural Textures  add warmth to every room. For example, Hunter Douglas Woven Wood Shades offer texture and privacy, while natural fiber rugs ground a room. Grasscloth and faux wood wallpapers add subtle texture without committing to a pattern you may tire of.

In Upholstered goods, performance fabrics are in high demand for their suitability to busy households. Crypton, solution-died acrylics, and olefin are simple to clean, have a soft hand, and come in a variety of patterns and colors. So, if you’ve been holding back from buying that white sofa for fear of spots and stains, you can put your fears to rest with today’s fabrics.
