We hope you'll be joining us for the 46th Annual Tri-C JazzFest presented by KeyBank in Playhouse Square, June 26-28th. In addition to 12 ticketed concerts, there'll be free music in the heart of CLE. It's a great way to kick off summer.
Throughout this newsletter, written specifically for you – our Elected Officials and Community Partners – we share college news-of-note as well as resources and events that may be of interest to you and your constituents. Feel free to share any item in this newsletter verbatim.

Remembering a Visionary Tri-C Leader & Higher Ed Champion
Nolen M. Ellison, Ph.D., the second president of Cuyahoga Community College and a basketball legend at the University of Kansas, passed away on June 12 at age 83. During his tenure from 1974 to 1991, Ellison championed major advancements that continue to benefit our students today. Through the Direct Admission Partnership, Shaker Heights students are automatically admitted to Tri-C during the fall of their senior year. It creates a seamless high-school-to-college transition that guarantees every student has access to higher education. More

In May of 2022, Tri-C was one of Ohio’s first institutions of higher education to achieve the Collegiate Purple Star campus designation for supporting student veterans. In May of 2025, Governor DeWine announced that the three-year designation has been renewed. More

More News & Events
Opened in 1963, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) is Ohio's first community college and remains one of the state's largest community colleges. To date, more than 1,200,000 students have come through Tri-C's doors.
The college offers two-year associate degrees, certificate programs, and the first two years of a baccalaureate degree. The curriculum includes over 1,000 credit courses in more than 200 career, certificate and university transfer programs. Courses are offered at four campus locations, two Corporate College facilities, many off-campus sites, and via television and internet.
