Here are some recent success stories, fun facts, observances, and celebrations. We continue to impress and demonstrate excellence. Our contributions are noticed and valued.


Success Stories:


Sumter County School Supply Drive.  Special thanks to Carol Kalinowski for leading this charitable endeavor.  Because of ALL of you, we enriched the lives of both the teachers and students in our Sumter County community. Thank you all for your generous donations.

  • In-kind donations = $2000
  • Cash donations = $70

August was named after a major figure of the ancient Roman World, Augustus Caesar (63 B.C.–A.D. 14). He was the first Roman emperor (though he never claimed the title) and the grandnephew of the previous ruler, Julius Caesar (who named July after himself).

LOCAL

Lake County Office of Parks & Trails explore P.E.A.R. Park in Leesburg on a light nature hike from 5-6 PM on Sunday, August 3rd.  For more info and to register call Justin Pouliot at 352-516-7011.

Discover Leesburg, every second Friday from 5 – 9 PM, August 8th. Features live music, evening market, food vendors and more. Location is downtown Leesburg. 

Cornhole Tournament, Wildwood. Presented by the Park & Recreation Department. Saturday, August 9th beginning 11 AM at the Wildwood Community Center. Cost is $10 per player. Prizes for all participants and lunch is included. For more info call 352-461-0134.

Cooter Festival in Inverness in October. 

5th Annual Soup Off presented by the Salvation Army. Tuesday, November 18th at 4:30 PM Savannah Center. Cost is $35.  Nine restaurants will be serving soup. This usually sells out so get your tickets now. For tickets Google “Soup Off The Villages Salvation Army Leesburg.” PS:  You also get a piece of free pottery and a quilted item to take home. Of course, there will be a basket raffle, Lottery Scratch-off, 50/50, and a live auction.
