Weekly Newsletter - April 24th, 2019
Coffee with the President,

Holy cow! Time is flying by these days! The summer season is right around the corner, and with it comes all kinds of fun! What are your business or non-profit's plans this summer season? Are you sponsoring any events? Hosting a gathering? With all that goes into promoting what it is you do, offer, or sell, it is so important to make a STATEMENT! Is your logo up to snuff? Do you need a redo and rebrand? Is it ready to go on everything from business cards up to billboards, and, dare I dream, someday, a blimp?
Did you know that logo comes from an older technical term, "logotype", back in the days of hand-setting for print:

lo·go·type     (lôgə-tīp′, lŏgə-)
n.
1.  Printing  A single piece of type bearing two or more usually separate elements.
2.  A logo.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fifth Edition copyright ©2019 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company. All rights reserved.

Which is vastly different from a MOTTO:

mot·to    (mŏtō)
n.   pl.   mot·toes or  mot·tos
A brief statement used to express a principle, goal, or ideal:  “We explain that when someone is cruel, or acts like a bully, you don't stoop to their level—no, our motto is ‘when they go low, we go high'”  ( Michelle Obama ).
[Italian, word, motto, probably from Vulgar Latin  *mōttum , word; see  MOT . ]

Did you need to know? The answer is, no. There are plenty of marketing professionals who are here to help you get your logos and mottos up to speed for the upcoming season. If the team needs new jerseys for the company softball picnic, or your are doing a bulk mailing to raise funds, or you need a bright new banner for a booth at an upcoming show, your fellow Tri-State Chamber members have you covered! Check them all out:

We want to hear your thoughts on a few ideas, as we look ahead to a busy summer season, and even further ahead to 2020!
Please take a moment to read and answer the questions below, feeling free to briefly elaborate in the space provided. Your answers will help us gain a better understanding of what is important to your business or non-profit, positioning us to better serve our membership in the future. All answers are confidential, and a report will be generated by the numbers, which we will share with you. We will use this information to better serve our mission of "Connecting Commerce and Community".
