Weekly Newsletter - May 29nd, 2019
Coffee with the President,

OH! Tri-Staters, did you have as amazing a weekend as I did? Did you? I hope so, I truly do! From the weather, to the ceremonies, to the parties and everything in between, this weekend was the BEST!

In my hometown of Salisbury, CT we honored the greatness that is "BULLET", and he is pictured in full uniform riding Lakeville Hose Co. "Utility 1". If you have been to any event in Salisbury (Fall Festival, Ski Jumps, Memorial Day Parade, etc), or experienced being safely rerouted through our back roads during an accident that closed route 44 or 41, you have come across BULLET, guiding traffic with gusto! Well, this great man is now retiring, and we wish him all the best that kicking one's feet up has in store!

While we are at it, take a look at a few other faces in the parade, those of   Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service ! That's right, our emergency services,   Lakeville Hose Company  and Salisbury Ambulance are 100% volunteer. They take care of us 24/7/365 and they are AMAZING at it! Like any organization, they need volunteers, so please spread the word! Click on the links and learn how you can help!

Here are links to all the great emergency and non-profits in our area, and some pictures of the action on Monday! All the best to you, Tri-Staters!

Dear Tri-State Chamber Newsletter Audience,

We the Board of Directors know that not everyone can make it to TSC meetings and events, and we understand. It seems, the faster and more convenient life becomes, the less time we all have, especially in business! We want to hear your thoughts on a few ideas, as we look ahead to a busy summer season, and even further ahead to 2020!
Please take a moment to read and answer the questions below, feeling free to briefly elaborate in the space provided. Your answers will help us gain a better understanding of what is important to your business or non-profit, positioning us to better serve our membership in the future. All answers are confidential, and a report will be generated by the numbers, which we will share with you. We will use this information to better serve our mission of "Connecting Commerce and Community".
Thank you in advance for taking time from your busy day.

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Sadlon.

Robert died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 15th after an intense, but thankfully fairly short-lived, battle with brain cancer.
Robert was a friendly, familiar face seen daily in our community, and a driving force behind the restoration and development of The Moviehouse.
After a successful early career in design, Robert's life was devoted to the preservation of architecture and the support of the cinema arts.
In accordance with Robert's wishes, there will not be a public funeral.
A celebration of Robert's life & legacy will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at The Moviehouse.

We hope you will join us to celebrate Robert and raise a glass to his memory with friends and neighbors.

We will honor Robert by continuing to work to make his vision for The Moviehouse a reality. To this end, The Millerton Cinema Arts and Cultural Center is a newly formed 501c3, set up to continue and promote our vision for the Cinema Arts in our region. Tax-deductible contributions can be made in Robert's memory to The Millerton Arts & Cultural Center, PO Box 643, Millerton, NY 12546 and will go to support the ongoing Elevator Campaign and another important community programming.

Thank you for all the thoughts and expressions of condolence I've received over the past few days. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Robert's loss is keenly felt by many, he was dearly loved and is greatly missed.

It's not just about Film. It's about Community.

“The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy.” Each year America joins together on the last Monday in May to pause, reflect and honor the abbreviated lives of those who have sacrificed everything for our freedom. Pride pulses throughout towns nationwide as we parade colors of red (hardiness), white (purity), and blue (vigilance, perseverance, justice)…

Safety in the Workplace - the effects of fatigue and lack of sleep
Workplace accidents are inevitable. However, some industries can be more prone to incidents due to long shift hours or shifts that are outside of the traditional 1st shift hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Long hours coupled with short sleep duration and sleep disturbances often lead to higher risk of mistakes and mishaps. However, many accidents are avoidable when employees are alert, focused and fully engaged while performing tasks. Continue Reading

Dyson, a resident of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., never surrendered the lead to claim his first Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli victory of the season. It was an electric 100 minutes of flat out racing, just days after he suffered a crash in a sprint car competition.
