Weekly Newsletter - June 19th, 2019
Coffee with the President,

Many, many thanks to all the men and women who made this year’s 24th Annual Murphy Open Golf Tournament a success! From our many sponsors on the course to those who donate behind the scenes, countless volunteers covering the front and back nine, to you, the players, who make the day of so much fun! We had perfectly dry overcast weather, which erupted into a downpour while we were all inside enjoying dinner, perfect!

Salisbury Winter Sports Association team #1 won outright with a low score of 63.
Second place went to our friends at Sunday in the Country Food Drive, and Clock Tower Pub and Grille came in third and brought home the Restaurant Division Trophy! Congrats to all!
Other shenanigans included the first ever Murphy Open Fashion Show, Best Dressed Man went to Spike Magyar, Best Dressed Woman to Dakota Olson, Best Sox to Fred Stevenson and Most Outrageous went to David Spinoza, who crushed the competition with his outfit from LoudMouth Golf Apparel! This roaming runway is sure to grow for our 25th! Speaking of, planning stages are underway, don’t miss the action in 2020, book your team today!

Thanks to Dana Lemay and Jesse Eiler for taking great photos on and off the course, here are about half the teams, you can catch more on our website and Facebook and Instagram in the following links:

On Time Delivery and the Manufacturing Supply Chain
When it comes to getting product to your customers there are two very important factors - Quality and On Time Delivery (OTD). Your customers want to know that they are getting the product as promised and in the time frame that they need it. On Time Delivery seems simple, but it can actually be a little bit of a moving target. If your product is made to order, you most likely have a standard lead time. However, your customer could be in a "line down situation," meaning if they don't get more product ASAP, their production line will go down. To you, shipping within your lead time means you met the On Time Delivery date, but your customer, who wants it expedited and shipped in 1 day, may mark you as late. Here in lies the problem with tracking On Time Delivery. Continue Reading

Salisbury Rotary Club News
Salisbury Rotary Club members, at its 6/11 luncheon meeting, learned about the Grow Against Poverty project in Kenya from now retired teachers, Jean and John Roccanova. When they read a 2004  New York Times  article about the school tuition being eliminated for Kenyan students, they were appalled at class sizes of over 100 students and decided to sponsor a teacher to make classes smaller at the Igero, Kenya school. Since then, they have continued and increased their support of education and community development projects in this area of Kenya.
Grow Against Poverty is a registered 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that supports education and community development projects in Kenya. For 8 years GAP has been raising money for school projects such as classroom construction, purchasing computers, serving meals, starting a bicycle transportation program, and hiring extra teachers. Projects in the communities include funding workshops in the areas of women's health, making fireless cookers, building a community building for Grow Against Poverty-Kenya, installing water tanks, and assisting families in starting small poultry and goat farms.
