Weekly Newsletter - May 1st, 2019
Coffee with the President,

It's MAY DAY! Happy May everyone, and oh what a month it is! Right out of the gate this weekend (pun intended) we have Kentucky Derby parties, Cinco de Mayo where local restaurants pull out all the stops, Vive la Femme, Art Openings, Gospel Fest, and, and...that is all just THIS WEEKEND! Scroll below to find out more, and create your itinerary so you don't miss a thing! Don't forget to click on "View Entire Message" at the bottom, our newsletter is so packed, it needs to be opened in it's own window! Hey speaking of, our Open Rate for the month of April was above 40%, which is great for such a busy time of year, plus spring break, good job!
On another note, talking to all you small businesses out there, be careful this time of year! It was brought to my attention in May of 2018 that there was a little door-to-door scam going on soliciting donations for a fictional fundraiser. KNOW your causes! There are so many great non-profits and our community is so very generous. If you do not know who the solicitor is, ask questions! If you don't recognize the non-profit they represent, tell them to leave you literature and come back. A well organized and local fundraiser will not be in a big rush, so there should not be any pressure. Don't forget that these donations really add up, and you can be taking advantage of that by taking a tax deduction each year. Always ask for a confirmation or receipt of some kind, this should be no problem for the solicitor. Here is a list of our emergency service and non-profit members, visit them today and learn how you can help:

Tri-State Chamber of Commerce, President
Dear Tri-State Chamber Newsletter Audience,

We the Board of Directors know that not everyone can make it to TSC meetings and events, and we understand. It seems, the faster and more convenient life becomes, the less time we all have, especially in business! We want to hear your thoughts on a few ideas, as we look ahead to a busy summer season, and even further ahead to 2020!
Please take a moment to read and answer the questions below, feeling free to briefly elaborate in the space provided. Your answers will help us gain a better understanding of what is important to your business or non-profit, positioning us to better serve our membership in the future. All answers are confidential, and a report will be generated by the numbers, which we will share with you. We will use this information to better serve our mission of "Connecting Commerce and Community".
Thank you in advance for taking time from your busy day.

Foreclosure Sales -
How do they work?
When it comes to house hunting, you are bound to come across a foreclosure sale or two. It can be a great way to score a good deal on the home of your dreams, but it's important to know how the process works. A foreclosure is a house whose owners were unable to pay the mortgage or sell the property and now the real estate lender has assumed ownership and is trying to sell the property to recoup some of their costs. Many people think foreclosed properties are only going to be in a lower price range, but you'll find all kinds of homes in a variety of price ranges. Continue Reading
