Weekly Newsletter - January 2nd, 2019
Coffee with the President,

Let's start with a few shout outs to our amazing SPONSORS! Without the support of this collection of businesses and non-profits, the TSC would be mediocre at best. Follow these links to their websites, get to know them and what they offer a little better this year. Better yet, stop in and say hello, introduce yourself as a proud member of this great organization and keep this network strong!
and drum roll please..... our newest SPONSOR:  Sharon Playhouse
What's in it for our sponsors, you may ask? Top referral services, for one thing. Think about it, the TSC gets inquiries all week long about everything from hiking trails to hospitality. Our sponsors top the list of answers!
Better exposure on our website, reaching the 1,600+ visitors there last year. While that number may not be huge, it represents people who are surfing the web with a mission. They are focused on our region, whether they reside here or they are coming for a visit. More than half of them are using mobile devices, and the click through rates are real! Who doesn't want to be front and center on every page for that audience?
Speaking of the web, when we are cruising around social media, for example, our first order of business is to check out what our sponsors are up to, and share, share, share! Did you know we have followers in Delaware? Cool.
The list goes on, as has this Coffee segment. If you are interested in joining our growing list of sponsors, please drop me a line or "shoot me a text". I am always happy to talk TSC! Maybe this is the year you have coffee with the president for real...

Internship Opportunities at HVRHS Career Experience Program Unpaid Experiential Learning Program (UELP)
The Unpaid Experiential Learning Program is a CT State-sponsored and sanctioned unpaid internship
program for high school students under the age of 18. It allows them to hold unpaid internships in for-profit organizations in the community that have a significant educational benefit.

The U.S.Department of Labor and the courts have created strict criteria for legally permitting an unpaid internship in a for-profit entity. (This applies to college internships as well.) The UELP Program helps to ensure those criteria are met and creates the platform for a work-based educational experience for high school students. Non-profit and civic organizations are exempt from this criteria. The DOL does not want to inhibit volunteer or civic engagement in the community. Read More!
Help Wanted:  Young HVRHS Career Experience Internship Program seeks internship opportunities at local organizations.

HVRHS Career Experience Program is seeking to create job shadow and internship opportunities in both for-profit and non-profit organizations in the local community.

While one-day job shadows are a perfect vehicle to introduce a student to a job or career, internships are a longer-term way for our students to build skills, connect to curriculum, and establish connections in the local community with caring adults working in all kinds of careers. Read more!
