Tlingit & Haida is committed to providing current information on the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic to ensure all tribal citizens remain informed and have the resources needed to stay safe. Below is a brief update from Tlingit & Haida’s Tribal Emergency Operations Center.
CASE COUNT UPDATE
The number of positive resident cases of COVID-19 in Alaska is currently 625 including 15 ne w cases as of June 11, 2020. Of these cases, 67 are in Southeast Alaska (see breakdown below), 105 individuals had a recent history of travel and 520 were close contact, community or unknown. There has been a total of 403 statewide recoveries, 51 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. The total number of non-resident cases is 65.

Southeast Alaska Breakdown*:
In Southeast Alaska, there are eleven active cases, 55 recoveries and one death.
  • Haines 1 (1 active)
  • Juneau: 37 (32 recovered, 5 active)
  • Ketchikan: 16 (16 recovered)
  • Petersburg: 4 (3 recovered, 1 death)
  • Prince of Wales Island - Craig: 2 (2 recovered)
  • Sitka: 6 (4 active, 2 recovered)
  • Wrangell: 1 (1 active)

SAFETY TIP
How to Use Hand Sanitizers
Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when soap & warm water aren't available can help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.

  • Apply a dime size amount to your palm.
  • Rub hands together, covering all surfaces of both hands.
  • Make sure to include between your fingers.
  • Continue rubbing hands until completely dry.

Remember to always keep alcohol-based sanitizers out of the reach of children. It can cause alcohol poisoning if swallowed.

The Tribal Emergency Operations Center (TEOC) was created to enable Tlingit & Haida to provide timely, integrated, and coordinated responses to the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that addresses the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The activation of the TEOC is not due to any identified cases within the Tribe. All actions are aimed at protecting the safety and well-being of Tlingit & Haida’s citizens, clients, employees and communities.
