The National Transportation in Indian Country Conference is the one-stop-shop transportation conference FOR TRIBES, BY TRIBES. NTICC offers access to relevant training and an opportunity for Tribal transportation professionals to engage with federal officials and their Tribal transportation peers regarding Tribal transportation issues and challenges. 

NTICC provides information and resources for all who are committed to improving the transportation infrastructure of Indian Country and the safety of those who live, work, and travel the roadways of Alaska Native and Native American lands.

Funding Opportunities

TTP Bridge Program


The TTP Bridge Program provides funding to carry out the design, preconstruction activities and construction of bridges that are on the National Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory. The new Infrastructure Law set aside 165 million dollars per year for the next four years to fund the TTP Bridge Program. Information about the TTP Bridge Program can be found at https://highways.dot.gov/federal-lands/programs-tribal/bridge. If you have questions concerning the TTP Bridge Program, you may contact the FHWA Bridge Program Manager Russell Garcia at 703-404-6223 or [email protected].

Reconnecting Communities Pilot

Discretionary Grant Program


Application Deadline: October 13, 2022


The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the new Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) discretionary grant program, funded with $1 billion over the next 5 years.

It is the first-ever program to help reconnect communities that were previously cut off from economic opportunities by transportation infrastructure. Funding supports planning grants and capital construction grants, as well as technical assistance, to restore community connectivity through the removal, retrofit, mitigation, or replacement of eligible transportation infrastructure facilities.

ODOT Transportation Alternatives

Call for Projects Now Open

Final Applications Due November 30, 2022


The Transportation Alternatives (TA) Set-Aside, formally known as Transportation Alternatives Program or TAP, from the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program provides funding for a variety of transportation projects that prioritize safety, comfort, and connectivity to destinations for all users of our transportation networks, including pedestrians and cyclists. 

 

Projects include pedestrian and bicycle facilities; construction of turnouts, overlooks, and viewing areas; community improvements such as historic preservation and vegetation management; environmental mitigation related to storm water and habitat connectivity; recreational trails; safe routes to school projects; and vulnerable road user safety assessments.

Training Opportunities

The Transportation Technical Assistance Coordination Library (TACL) helps rural and tribal transit agencies access information about public transportation coordination. They are now offering a 24/7 online TACL training module through National RTAP eLearning. The course walks learners through all aspects of TACL and provides a certificate of completion upon successfully passing the test.

 

The next training webinar will take place on August 11, 2022 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET.

 

TACL's quarterly update included 11 new resources, including a new TACL Partner resource: Rural Health Information Hub's (RHIhub) Transportation to Support Rural Healthcare.
